  1. That's a pretty awesome image. This counts as an image because the image is actually cool . . .

I know....an editor somewhere is facing a lot of questions. The cartoonist is fine - a thickly satirical drawing highlighting that Obama is being thusly portrayed. The artist 'Borats' it and goes over the top IMO. That the editor ran with it as a cover and not foreseeing that it would be dragged out of all sorts of context and misunderstood by all sorts of people that don't read the New Yorker is a sackable offense on the grounds of ineptitude unless.......that was the intention all along - they certainly got a lot of publicity again and right on the back of the Hersh article the previous month.

Bad drawing ethics or deeply satirical?
Bad editorial decision or publicity stunt?

  6. @Albionshores I dont know dude I think cable media knows better, but like to pretend that all the stupid people in middle america will be confused, so they can have some salacious shit to plug into the gaping vortex of the 24 hour news cycle. The cover was so bloody over the top that only a deranged monkey would take it for anything but satire, i mean its the New Yorker for fuck sake. This is another example of the new trend in news and politics " artificial outrage " If any thing it made Obama look good, because it pointed out how patently ridiculous the claims his opponets have made against him. It cracks me up when folk now a days talk about dirty politics, any student of history knows that campaigns these days are Mickey Mouse compared the way they used to go at it during the turn of the century.

Yeah I guess you might be right. Off at a slight tangent but talking about elections are can't believe the money that has to be raised to become president of the U.S. It flies in the face of fair and equal representation. And then on the back of this influx of huge cash you get grandstanding politics. Not meat politics but sound-bite politics. It is a sad indictment that the art of rhetoric and a sound grasp of domestic and foreign current affairs is no longer a priority in deciding the premier politician in the land.

Instead it is their cash, their looks, their charisma, their campaign manager and their wife???
