Officials ponder regulation of salvia, say plant could be the 'new marijuana' view story

This is just the next one," said Florida state Representative Mary Brandenburg, who has introduced a bill to make possession of salvia a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

  1. These idiots should try smoking the stuff before drawing such comparisons. There is one major difference between the two herbs: Marijuana is enjoyable to smoke, and Salvia Divinorum is anything but. There is nothing recreational about your left arm being upside down, while your head is under water on the other side of the room --- and spinning around and around while your torso tries to reunite them before your feet catch up. That statement won't make much sense unless you've actually tried Salvia. On top of that, the "high" (although that is not the right word for it) only lasts for about 30 seconds.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating people go out and start smoking either of them. But if this isn't political pandering I don't know what is. This woman is trying to be slick by attempting to lure in voters with her "Elect me and I'll parent your kid so you don't have to" routine. Some lazy or overworked mother is going to buy into this woman's crap and maybe even vote for her if the rhetoric scares her enough.

Exactly - which is why we still don't need tough regulations for nitrous oxide, despite it being a powerful drug. It once took me to the place where the playing cards are real people and sounds are shiny crystal archways overhead. Loud archways.
