jpost.com — S-300 is a state of the art Russian anti-aircraft defense system. Russia denies selling Iran the system. Israeli defense has said Iran are to receive it in '08, the Pentagon thinks they will get it, but not this year. Only then it gets more complex....

  1. .....because if Israel is saying it can neutralize top spec Russian defenses then what does that do to Russian sales
of the same system and what does it mean for Russian perceptions regarding the security of their own airspace?

Meanwhile we have an expansion of Nato, the missile shield in East Europe, everybody in the Arctic Circle sticking flags into the sea bed and Georgia, in the hospital, giving birth to with what looks like a new regional war.

And if all this cold-posturing has you wondering 'why?' then please don't forget to explain it to me if you discover a reasonable and valid explanation. Because regarding the S-300 system, a system designed to protect their own skies....let me get this straight; is this what the regional force is saying,

'if you try and acquire effective defenses we will consider that reason to attack, even if that not only destabilises the region further but sets the world itself off on another brinkmanship coldwar race.'

And the argument made to support this?
"Their aim is to obtain an atomic bomb." - Defense Minister Ehud Barak

Even though the IAEA has said that they have seen no evidence of an active nuclear weapons programme in Iran, that all material is observed and accounted for, that attacking would create escalation and as senior official Olli Heinonen, deputy head of the International Atomic Energency Agency, flew into Iran yesterday to continue talks.
