  1. AP is saying it was a B1-B, not a B-52

The reuters article reflects that, I'll send a message to Mixx to change it.

  3. Just to set the record straight, it was a B-52 in the original article. Al-Jazeerah probably published what they had, when info was kinda scarce. They fixed it now.

I was just gonna ask that, I know the b-52, never heard of the b-1. How much of a difference is there? Size-wise?

  7. My husband flew B-52s for a decade so I didn't want it to be a "buff" that crashed. The B1-B was designed to replace the B-52 but that has never happened. Apparently, you can't make a really fast bomber with that big of a payload capability.

BTW: latest reports say the crew walked away from this.

The B1-B is much smaller, but that's so it'll weigh less for supersonic flight. Like NaturalWoman said, you can't make a fast bomber with a big payload so the B-52 was kept in service. The problem with the B-52 is the fleet is so old, they don't make the replacement parts for them anymore, although I believe Boeing has been trying to make some.

  9. B52's are huge...i've seen 'em on the runway out at March AFB and their wings actually sag a little.

To say the chicks are huge and their "wings" are sagging isn't exactly kind to them is it? I mean, I know they're old, but c'mon! That's just rude.

I was talking about the green skin and wrinkles on your "light sabre". You should really see a doctor for that.
