  1. It is about growing the community from a variety of funnels.

Some of us find the Digg funnel intimidating and find another that we feel more comfortable with.

I am becoming something in Mixx where I have been banned from Digg...twice.

    Hey, I was learning!

  3. I don't know what I should say the article is great.

I think I can tell you guys that I am a new blogger and I am new on all these social networks (except facebook ;-))
and I have tried almost all of them in order to make some awareness about my blog which i have just started couple weeks ago, so I don't have enough experience to say which one is better out of all these cool sites (Mixx, SU, Digg, BZ, Sphinn, etc...) but I can definitely say that after trying them for a few weeks I found that I love Mixx and SU more than all the other sites, they are so easy to use and I found that those two sites send me a lot of new visitors everyday more than the others.

I might be wrong, but I really love Mixx and StumbleUpon.

    Lara,

Hey Lara, thanks for the comment. I would like to read your blog sometime, just drop me a line on G-Talk or Gmail with the link. As far as which is better, it is for you to decide what is more comfortable for you. I rarely post anything from my own blog to a site, I do not want to be seen as a blog spammer. I also sometimes find other blogs interesting and will promote a story or opinion from that blog to a site, as long as it is content I believe in. I just had to post this story because I feel that it is something that needed to be said for a long time. I personally enjoy Mixx better than other social news sites. I am active on quite a few though. Thanks again for reading the post.

    Near it?

I messed up the kitchen good when my beaters hit the Mixxing bowl yesterday. I got conversation leader, thought starter, top 10, and am maintaining my position as a top Mixxer, all in one day.

Not bad for a guy who just started using this site just 9 days ago. Yes, I said 9 days ago.

My first post was http://www.moxie-drive.com/articles/article.php/24-11-2007Make-Cents-Of-Your-Blog.htm and was posted to this site on 11/24/07.

About posting from your own blog to a social site...I need to refer you to http://controversialmarketing.blogspot.com/2007/12/10-reasons-why-you-might-be-pussy.html where #7 says:

"7. You Never Sphinn or Digg Your Own Posts Because of What People Might Think.

Darlings, if I have something time-sensitive on the menu, I'm not waiting for Little Red Riding Hood to traipse on by and post my articles to social media sites for me. I'll be glad to take the lesser amount of traffic ON TIME than a greater amount of traffic TOO LATE.

This one also reminds me of that last piece of pizza that no one wants to take because everyone knows everyone else wants it and the person who takes it is going to get all the psychic daggers. So then the last piece ends up getting cold and the fat kid ends up eating it like usual.

    8. You Don't Sphinn or Digg or Bump an Article That Mentions You Because You're Afraid You'll Be Accused of Doing It for Yourself.

Ok, turn up your hearing aid... SO #!*&%* WHAT?!

The truth is, as long as you do such things with flare, there are people who will still support you because they want to learn to be more like you. So what if you don't get max traffic because of it. Most people who will admire you for being fearless don't get ANY traffic to begin with so start thinking in two directions instead of one.

In other words, fearing being disliked or fearing less popularity and therefore less traffic is just as narcissistic as submitting an article by, or about, you. So go ahead, try it... it's like ripping off a Band-Aid; the faster you do it, the easier it'll be."

I usually throw in one article post or article of my own per page of posts at a social site in one day at least. That way no one can accuse you of spamming. Besides, it is not their page, it is yours. Let them have their opinion of you and then go out and find some more friends that won't mind if your post your own stuff.

And hey, buy the way, I write some good s!!i1 and will submit it if I want to. In many cases no one else seems to want to do it for me, so why not?

    Don't be shy about this.

  9. Hey, I always say if you have something to say, say it. If it pisses people off, you must be hitting the nerve.

  10. Great post. Mixx, Digg, SU, etc. all bring a little something different to the table and thats what I like. I'm more active on some than others, but I think they all have something unique that has value.
