   @SallyD - I marked it breaking, but I am still kinda feeling out if "breaking" is for recently submitted news, like for instance like a tornado in alabama or a earthquake in china that just happened. So if I can get that cleared up I will vote with you.

   We are such n00bs. Super n00bs.

   My apologies to Mixxers if I am doing the wrong thing on this one. I was thinking when I clicked the link to make it breaking it was going to tell me what was considered breaking. Perhaps that isn't very user friendly.

   Where is @yoda when you need him. BMF Yoda master man... clarification.

   "What is Considered "Breaking News" on Mixx?

   SuperMixxers have the ability to mark stories as "Breaking News" on Mixx. When a story is marked breaking by multiple SuperMixxers, it will be displayed in the Breaking News category (link). The definition of what is breaking is a bit subjective, but knowing that breaking news can happen in any category, here are some guidelines:

   * Does the story have an appeal outside of one narrow demographic? For instance, a tree falling on the house in Lawton, OK is interesting, but probably not "breaking." If that tree is in Washington, DC and happens to be the White House, well, then that would be breaking.
   * Is the story from a credible source? If a random blog about cheeseburgers suddenly has news that Britney Spears has won the Nobel Peace Prize... Probably not something you want to tag breaking. NBC announces that? Well, first, buy a ski chalet in hell cause it hath frozen over, but then, submit it and mark it breaking.
   * Would this story cause an interruption in your Mom's General Hospital watching to announce? That's probably breaking news, even if it makes your Mom mad.
   * Would a major news site, like NYTimes.com, USAToday.com, LATimes.com, put one of those red "Breaking News" boxes on their homepage with this story in it? Definitely breaking.

   In other words, use your best judgement as a SuperMixxer!"

   @dubz4sho Anyone who is business-minded should know this. Might be a bit of a "narrow demographic" now that I think about it. I can guarantee you that Yoda will say it's not breaking unless of course it concerns him =)

   I like to think of breaking as something that is major news that came out during the middle of the day OR something that is so new there are bound to be updates as more information pours in--like the recent natural disasters in Asia :(

    I notice that sometimes shoving a newsletter down the reader's throat (email) gets more reach than simply placing it in a neat pile on their desk (rss). However, I like RSS very much and am switching my subscriptions to it. RSS definitely has its use and yes @Dubz4sho it is starting to become odd when a site doesn't offer RSS.
