  3. @FatLester why vote it down b/c it's a competitor? pretending that reddit and digg don't exist won't make mixx any better.

  4. @FatLester this news should motivate Mixx to do more improvements. I still love MIxx although use also reddit and digg.

It's no secret that I'm a Mixx die-hard. The goal is not to pretend they don't exist, rather it is to avoid promoting these competing sites on Mixx's dime.

Digg bans its users for submitting stories about Mixx, and a number of Diggers have been banned over the past 7 months just for voting up a story about Mixx.

Mixx doesn't censor its users like Digg does. However, because of that, I think we have an increased obligation to not abuse this privilege by advertising competing sites.

I have the right to vote stories about Digg down, just as you are entitled to vote them up. The beauty of Mixx (and in another stark contrast to Digg) is that your vote counts every bit as much as mine. There are no "bury brigades" here on Mixx, and I will proudly cast my down vote knowing full-well that I am in the minority on this one.

Digg has been playing copycat for months. Make no mistake, Mixx is the innovative leader in the field, and Digg has been doing its best to emulate Mixx's moves as quickly as it is able.

There will be improvements made here at Mixx, but they will be driven by user imput and suggestions, and not by anything Digg is doing. If for no other reason, everything Digg is doing Mixx has already done (months ago in most cases).

The Mixx Social Media Revolution is only just beginning. Hold on tight, it's going to by a wild and exciting ride!

  7. @FatLester i see where you're coming from, i just think that if something is "news worthy" to the Mixx users then I see no reason to remove or vote it down. Obviously if it's not "news" to you, then by all means..pow pow pow shoot it down. beauty of the democracy here.

never realized that digg users have been banned for promoting mixx, that just seems wrong to me.

funny thing is, the REAL news story about reddit is the open source announcement, not the tagging article this link goes to. and IMO reddit going open-source is DEF news-worthy to me personally.

either way...love mixx, not crazy about digg...and really don't use reddit (although i'm intrigued about their source code now), so i would say i'm a mixx supporter myself ;)
