money.co.uk — The lamp was in fact one half of a pair of 250 year old delicate porcelain Ming style vases. In perfect condition these were thought to be worth over $500,000. However, an 8mm cable hole has dropped this vase's value to just $40,000.

  2. well, at least they will be telling this story for decades to come. "Great grandpa could have made $500K in 2008 just like that, which back then was loads of money. No man, he wasn't a drug dealer. ANYWAY, he ruined it by trying to be practical... And what happened? It only sold for $40K."
