The shares of online travel agency Expedia Inc were up more than 9 percent in afternoon trade on Tuesday amid speculation that the company could be a takeover target.

With 51% of recently surveyed Americans saying they are somewhat likely to spend their upcoming tax rebate on travel or a vacation, Expedia will help extend those vacation dollars by offering exclusive deals plus a coupon worth $200 off qualifying trips.
