I won't even try to explain monads to you, because, I'm still a bit shaky on them myself. However, I will say my attempts to build a Maybe monad in Ruby have helped me learn more about Monads - and have yielded a pretty useful code

In Episode 90: Fragment Caching railscast, there is a great, simple explanation of how to do fragment caching. I like using strings as the identifiers for the cached portion of a view, but if your site has accounts with users signed in and you want cache?
