The photo came via the Associated Press and <a href="http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/13/a-remarkable-photo-from-tornado-country/">The Lede blog at the New York Times</a>. Follow the comments, then read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercell and realize the photograph shows not only a tornado but also the wall cloud of a high-precipitation supercell.
