Can Homosexuals Be Christians?

Why do people put words in Jesus mouth? There is no passage in any of the gospels where Jesus says that homosexuality is bad and a sin. There is no gospel in the bible where Jesus says we should shun or punish those who do sin. There are many passages where Jesus says that we should love our fellow man. We should treat our neighbors and even total strangers as we would treat Jesus if he shows up on our door. We should go out of our way to love, and help our fellow man.
Yet many Christians seem to think that this doesn't apply to homosexuals. Why is that?
