ANIMAL rights groups are up in arms over an annual festival in Peru that serves up hundreds of fried CATS to locals. The 'Gastronomical Festival of the Cat' – sees townsfolk in Canete, near Lima, feast on the fluffy pets for two days.

In what could be a first in the world, a fish species known as cichlids has been discovered by scientists in the act of splitting into two distinct species in Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake and one of the world’s biggest fresh water bodies.

Hundreds of new marine species and previously uncharted undersea mountains and canyons have been discovered in the Southern Ocean off Australia. Scientists said 274 species of fish, ancient corals, molluscs, crustaceans and sponges.

At first glance, a landfill is unsuitable for wildlife habitat. The Audubon Society doesn’t agree. In fact they recently announced a partnership with Waste Management to restore wildlife habitat at Two Pine Landfill in North Little Rock, AR.
