  1. I agree that children are out of bounds in political discourse. But a candidate's judgement is not. I think this poor girl has been done a horrible disservice by her self-centered politician mother who is taking a very bad situation (the unplanned pregnancy) and making it worse. The press are not putting the spotlight on this, the Alaska governor clearly has her hands on the follow spot.. Sarah Palin could have kept this off the national pages simply by saying "no thank you" to John McCain.

If the conservatves are so focused on family values, what's going on here? This shows poor judgement and a lack of a moral compass on the part of Sarah Palin, putting her daughter through this scrutiny. Obvously her priorities are her politics and her career and not her daughter's well being.

I feel bad for Sarah Palin's unborn grandchild, who will be growing up with a very young mother who may too be confused about priorities. How is Ms. Palin going to help her daughter cope with all this if she's busy being a veep? And this is going to be a good marriage? I wonder how the high school boyfriend will react to a sudden second amendment inspired wedding his wedding reception being catered by the NRA?

  2. I agree that children should be out of bounds with politicians in public debate. I also think Senator Obama showed true class when he refused to comment on Sarah Palin's daughter. If it were the other way around, you'd never hear the end of it from Republicans. That said, it seems rather hypocritical and a tad much that Sarah Palin harps on anti-abortion and family values, and then can't seem to instill it in her own children. Yeah, her daughter is keeping the baby, but perhaps putting it up for adoption would be a better alternative. I'm a Democrat who doesn't believe in abortions, either, but I also believe in birth control and a little self control, which Palin evidently didn't instill in her daughter.

  3. I am really struggling with this. Yes this is a private matter but when her mother accepted the VP position it became a public matter. Judgement and family values do come into play when you are in this position. This poor child, I am sure has been subjected to so much already. Why would a parent subject her child to more? To make an example out of her? Something is not setting well with me on this topic.

  4. I gotta ask, who was running for VP? Who cares if she's pregnant? Shock , gasp, surprise! It happens everyday in the world. Somebody just didn't have anything to do so they went after Palin's kids. Like to look into those peoples lives and expose what they do or have done to see if they like it.
