  1. @calinazaret could you explain this one from a psychological point of view, please?

  2. How sad is it that I can relate? We should have talked about bad mothers on last nights show. :D

  3. @yoda well, I could sit down with this comic and run a full psychoanalytic test, but that would be . . . effort . . .

As Freud would say: “The goal of all life is death.”

    Is that helpful?

  7. @yoda you know, I'm really not feeling the love in this relationship. You might be intimidated by the fact that I'm a smart woman; it's understandable. When you're ready, and you're in a better place emotionally, we can start to heal.

  10. @yoda it was a joke. You know about those? :P

My joke was the insinuation that we have a broken marriage, and that's therapist talk, Dr. Phil style.

  11. @calinazaret how far along in psychology are you exactly?

  12. @yoda

I'm not sure how to answer that question.

I've taken tons of psych courses and I'm a couple semesters away from my BS.

  13. @calinazaret wow, i guess i'm just a sensitive guy at times.

lol (really!) good joke, and i almost thought you were that weird, for a second...or something.

i still thought that this cartoon was kind of deep and wasn't joking, myself.

    anyways, it's now Monday!

re: the question: i thought maybe you had some other work outside of school, in the field, or had otherwise further knowledge, is all. do you plan to get a Ph.D.??

  14. i disagree with Freud, if he did say that. The goal of life is to play, and to fulfill the potential of our DNA and so forth. that's what i think. maybe procreation, for some, but not all...

yup, life wants to have fun...i'm convinced of it.

  16. well, I don't know anything abut opus, but I can make a few observations about this comic.

Clearly, the main character hired the woman to come to his house and insult him. While insulting him she emphasizes that his shortcomings are her fault, and sticks to a careful scrip of his bidding. However, she goes too far and makes a true observation about the main character, which is not what he wanted.

He wanted her, in reality, to dispell his insecurities by internalizing them as her fault. The main character might be doing this in an attempt at changing past memories and feelings of powerlessness, but she only forced him to see how truly pathetic he is.

Sadly, in the end he learns nothing because he tells her to go outside and start over again, furthering his delusion.

Another way of interpreting this comic is that the main character used to have an abusive mother and he is seeking the comfort of familiarity by seeking out this service. In which case I will still return to my previous inference that the moment was ruined for him by the her truthful observation, thus ending, albeit briefly, his delusion.
