  4. Even if you have just enough money to pay cash for ONE house, that puts you so far ahead of everyone else. I purchased a $200k house last year. If I go the whole 30 years with my mortgage it's actually going to cost over $400k. So I'm paying twice as much for a house as someone who already has enough money to buy it with cash.
