  2. I love this quote:

"Surely they got a ton of questions (I sent one in myself) and they got to 4 of them before having something more important to do. For a first one, it wasn’t terrible."

Wow, what an endorsement. The lack of enthusiasm is contagious.

  3. They admitted to an auto-bury algorithm (previously denied) and claimed to correspond with users they perceive to be in breach of the rules before taking any action. They can't even lie convincingly.

I figured that time would have been better spent cleaning my turtle tank, so I did.

They should take a page or two out of a few politicians play books.

yeah, this was pretty annoying. Denying auto-bury and just calling it something else when asked again was not in the best form.

Digg is no longer really democratic. It's more totalitarian government now. If the "auto-bury algo" thinks you're submitting questionable content, it automatically removes it without consulting the user. Digg claims they review this, but they also say they're short staffed and can barely get to the all their emails. If the algo thinks you're a bot account, a gamer, etc. it decrease your vote - again without consulting the user. There is no room for public scrutiny in Digg's process. Apparently they don't realize that transparency and community review are necessities in democracies. But, in their defense, neither does this country.
All the power in the Digg process is centralized in bots, algos, and site admins. The user is left with nothing more than a vote to cast. A vote that the vast majority of diggers cast on stories *already* made popular. And, people still think this si a democratic social news site.

  8. These 2 are cracking me up constantly:

cgt2099: Screw Digg. Come over and join me at Mixx.

silentjay74: Still seems like riot control to me. Appease the masses and disarm the pitchforks. Feed the peasants.
