  1. I am one of them. The crowd over there sucked and the auto burial of stories, rabid distaste for anything microsoft or related to SEO... I am glad i left.

  2. @sara,

Thanks for post at the MixxingBowl regarding this. Otherwise I would have never found it. The only problem with the Techcrunch article is that MixxingBowl was not created by the Mixx guys, it was created by us, average Mixxers.

  3. Sadly Digg has become home to MySpace YouTube crowd and thus the average IQ of a Digger has gone from above average to room temperature.

  4. I found Mixx thanks to the TechCrunch article and so far I'm happy with what I'm seeing. Digg's community had been driving me away for sometime now. Happy to have found an alternative.

  5. Hear ye! Hear ye!

    Mixx = new cool.
    Digg = old lame.

  6. Yeah, I've been a digg user for about a year and a half and I used to visit it religiously. Now I despise that site. The topics are always the same and everyone just bashes on each other. Mixx admins, please please please do some sort of comment deletion or figure something out to prevent those kinds of users from posting comments.

  7. I wrote comment #28 on this article.

My reasoning for commenting (besides being an attention whore) is that the point of MA's article was - I believe - misunderstood by some of the commentors. I think the point of the article is:
    A. Some people don't like Digg anymore.
    B. Mixx is doing a great job of meeting the needs of those people.

For a avid beta tester like myself, Mixx isn't as fun because I can't seem to break it.
    Dangit.

  9. @sant0sk1,

Same exact thing here... I stopped posting on digg a year ago.

  10. I joined both Mixx and MixxingBowl after reading the article. Glad there is a viable alternative to digg - and have already visited sites I would never have seen without links by this site. Very cool.

  11. I, too, joined Mixx after reading this. It popped up in my Google Reader and I had to see what all the hooplah was about. So far I like it very much.

  12. Anyone posted this over at Digg?

  13. @cGt2099, worldwideweb posted it on Digg about nine hours ago. I has 22 diggs so far and hasn't been buried yet.

  17. Well I just joined here. I agree with many of the comments. The Digg community has always been immature but then again that is a huge market. I still avidly read Slashdot where the comments are always much more informative and enlightening.

@hdar3415 ... I just dugg it, it would be funny if that made it to the front page.

  18. @nickgs1 Everyone on Mixx that has a Digg account should Digg it, I did. I submitted this story to Digg http://digg.com/software/A_Digg_Clone_That_Might_Actually_Make_It/all It had forty diggs in about an hour and I'm sure it was headed to the front page, then it got buried. It's my understanding that about ten of the people that dugg it were banned from Digg!

  19. @hdar3415 Great idea.

I've found myself here by following a link from reddit, albeit a burried submission, but at least there's som coverage.

  20. Unfortunately this story has now been buried on Digg.

  22. I'm a member of Digg. I heard about the site from Techcrunch and I'm loving what I'm seeing. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this startup. Hopefully I'll be making some submissions soon, too.

  23. Ditto, julian, just came over from tech crunch. Will also be submitting soon, since it might actually matter here.

  24. I enjoy the civility and thoughtfulness of mixx users. I do fear that someday, in the rising popularity of mixx, that the individuals who post mean-spirited sarcastic comments on digg will eventually raid this site. So far, though, I haven't seen a single comment on here like that, and I hope it stays that way.

  25. Digg is no longer geek. Which is why it's bad. Looking forward to seeing Mixx step it up.

That's what the Report Link is for. And if you really wanna voice your opinion, go over the the MixxingBowl Forum and post it their. The Mixx guys go over and look at it so, you can be sure you'll be heard.

With any luck we can keep the "mean-spirited" off of Mixx. Hopefully if a particular user is reported to Mixx by enough users he will be removed. (After a fair review by the Mixx crew of course)

  29. Looks like this got buried at Digg
    Which, of course, is unsurprising

  33. I already read this article and i liked it so i wanted to write about this too. Unfortunatelly i forgot to mention the source, TechCrunch and the editor got upset.
I am using this comment to apologize for that. After i mentioned the source i decided to delete the entire article.:P
Next time I'll try just to post a comment and write how much i liked what Michael wrote, instead of writing about it. :))
    Great article! :)

  34. Why not come to Mixx? It has a better design than Digg, the community is more friendly than Digg and best of all, it supports Pictures!

  37. Mixx is the first digg competitor that I've seen that has a chance to compete with digg. It has a better design and isn't dominated by tech topics. I heart mixx!

  38. i migrated here too :)

Maybe room temperature up north in places like New York and Alaska. The IQ of your "average Digger" pales in comparison to room temperature in South Louisiana.

  40. i think that mixx is much better - it is light
