    No question, social media is hard to walk away from.

  3. ...if my contacts wouldn't get mad that i didn't vote for their stories...i would go

  4. I think you can, even though I'vebeen known to hound hotel management for free wifi. Every once in a while I'll just take a day or two and not go online for any reason. It's refreshing.

    As for th outside world, well, I do have to remind myself from time to time that the people I interact with online do have lives in the real world the same way I do. sometimes social media can help us connect real life situations better that we would normally. Like when evilmonkey went to the obama rally a couple days ago-- he twittered and blogged everything. I was able to see it not only from dry, traditional new perspective but also from a real-life "I was there" perspective.

  5. I was out of town with limited computer time all of last week, and the first day or two was ... strange. No Mixx? No blog reading? Then by the end of the week I was ... shudder ... kind of enjoying being disconnected a bit. Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone.

  6. @ You

    Ha! Of course you can't take a break from Social Media. I don't even exist, I'm a figment of your imagination. Its the next stage of human evolution, your Super Ego conjuring me up Fight Club style, one piece at a time through the comment system -your conscience knitting together both the 'meta' and the 'physical'.

    This comment doesn't even exist outside your own head. If you're reading this you're already too far gone to turn back and you, my friend, could be one of the next generation if you would only accept it instead of fight it. It would easier for you to go forward and break through into the golden dawn of the Albion interconnectedness. On some level you're wondering if that is even a word......it is now! Like me you just made it up and that is only a glimpse of your potential!

    Vote me and my submissions up even if they piss you off. They are really your submissions and, being a construct of your Conscience, are always right and key to your development.

    Thanks for imagining.

    Albion.

  7. I started a new job last week, so my social media activity has changed a lot. It is killing me, and I haven't really missed a day yet.

  8. @sorinradio
    this is a good point. There is an expectation from friends that you read/vote their stories, so stepping away becomes even more difficult.

    @calinazaret
    What's this outside world you speak of. You must fill us all in on these strange world you speak of. Is it anything like Mixx?

    @pleeker
    Limited computer time forces you to keep first things first on your computer needs, and reading some blogs and voting might be toward the bottom of the list. Welcome back, we won't tell anyone you've been away.

    @Albionshores
    Haha, awesome dude. Only thing is - first rule about social media is that there is social media.

    @robdiana
    How's the new job going? You haven't missed a day of work or social media yet? :)

    If you think I'm joking then that's just your Id putting up resistance.

  10. I have only been involved in Social Media for a short time but I feel it has opened my eyes to a lot of things I was hiding from. I do also know that this is addicting. When my family pokes me in the back and remind me they are still here... or even worse .. if they send an email. I will have to step away for a bit. But for now I have things balanced pretty well..

  11. It's addictive to me

  13. @Albionshores
    I'd almost believe you, if I didn't already know that we're all just meat-batteries for the robots, and you're just another aspect of the Matrix.

  14. @Honest_Ape
    Who gave you that impression?

    Its that damn Id again isn't it!!!

    .....seriously I can't step out of the room for one minute.....you need to do some of the hard work yourself ya'know. I can't afford tot ake my eyes of the ball for one second. I was a longtime subconscious you know, there's no reason why you shouldn't get the Ego on side too. A little bit of help would be nice.

    Oh and whilst I'm at it stop looking at so much porn! All those animal instincts, it just makes the Id even harder to handle. I'm your interconnectedness remember...as far as I'm concerned she's like a sister and he's like a brother. As for the donkey stuff, thats just f***ed up dude.

    Other than that I'm proud of yer and you'll be seeing more of me around; dreams, you might think you catch a glimpse of me behind your eyes in the mirror, voices in your head....all the usual stuff. Just go along with it.

  15. @Albionshores
    Are you one of the voices that tells me to kill, one of the voices that tells me to burn things or the voice that tells me not to do either? So many voices. It's hard to differentiate.

    @Albionshores & @Honest_Ape

    Oooohh. We seem to have had a misunderstanding. I wasn't really telling you to burn things, I was just singing 'Disco Inferno' by the Trammps.

    You should know I sing a lot. Ever get a song stuck in your head for no apparent reason? Thats me....

    sorry about that.

  23. It haunts my every waking moment. I go to sleep and have nightmares of cGt2099 saying "Have you finished editing yet fucka?" Must Front Page....New stories on twitter and Pownce....OMG no one has submitted this yet? As you can see there is NO ESCAPE! Leave your gmail account alone for a day, you open it up to find over 100 submissions worthy of your votes. Damnit Brian why must you write this and bring our addictions to light? Yes we are all positively nutz!!!

  24. @nowsourcing
    In honesty it was neither. That was just cGT daydreaming about being Samuel L Jackson and choosing his lightsabre. I didn't want to embarass him.

  25. @Albionshores
    crap. I thought you were telling me to burn down a disco. which I did. oh well, can't undo that one, can I?

  26. @Honest_Ape
    Its ok buddy. You're a work in progress. You're bound to make mistakes along the way. Think of it as a league competition and not a knockout tournament.

    Just don't do it again and try to remember that whilst donkeys are beasts of burden that does not mean you should give them your load.

  27. @Albionshores
    The only donkey I've ever had any experience with was Donkey Kong. And I'm not really convinced he's a donkey, anyway.

    Don't be afraid dude, this thread doesn't exist outside your head and I only exist inside your head....so why worry?

  33. @Albionshores
    You get into such deep thoughts and conversations. Remember I'm just a small town boy from Mississippi. I can't handle all these voices.

  34. @BrettFavre
    If you can handle that many i's, p's and s's then you can handle little ol' me in yer head. Just ignore the others.
