  1. There's different kinds of metalheads now though. You have your hardcore metal heads with bands like Hatebreed or Unearth. Then you have your death metalheads that listen to bands like Cannibal Corpse and then you have your old school hair metalheads who listen to bands like AC/DC. Each reflect a different attitude and worldviews.

Absolutely... there's different movements between each sub-genre. With this though, I tried painting with a very broad stroke. Fundamentally, the 10 issues raised are usually reflected in every metalhead - because it all stems from the love of the music. Why? Because it's fucking metal, that's why! METAL!

Not to the singers, but it sure does to the folks at their concerts. Try to tell me otherwise.

  9. @cGt2099 very nice post. bookmarked for further exploration.. i could totally relate to all of it, being an old-school metalhead (headbanger was the preferred term) from the early '80s and a huge fan of Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, etc.

after all is said and done, i think _The Mob Rules_ was the best metal album ever made, with lots of close runner ups.

do you have a favorite metal album?

  10. i'd say this relates to most headbangers myself...i still haven't given up on Metallica, even after the Load albums...hard to after they probably saved my life, of course.

It's really hard to choose one out of so many. Master of Puppets, Live After Death... are a couple that come to mind.

  12. Anthrax was my group in highschool, I considered them a alternative to Metalica, which I liked music wise but the fans that I encountered seemed seemed to lean to the side of dickheadedness.

    We shall on the beaches.
We shall fight on the landing grounds.
We shall fight in the fields and in the streets.
We shall fight in the hills.
    We shall never surrender!!!

  15. that album was easily the #1 party album of my group of friends, followed by "...And Justice For All", "Among The Living", "Peace Sells...", "Kill 'em All", "Number of the Beast"

and probably some Zep or the other like the fourth unnamed album.

personally, though, Sabbath has outlasted and outshined the rest, really.

no top medal list is complete with Vol. 4 and Paranoid.

does it get any better than Supernaut?
