  1. I saw this one coming. Will it beat Titanic?

  2. What about the ticket cost being lower 15 years ago?

    1. @SebKom yes it does say "unadjusted" and in "real dollars" I think the stats lok pretty different. I am a huge fan of both bmovies though.

    2. @SebKom - I would also like to see a comparison of actual number of ticket sales, I don't like the idea of "dollars" being the metric to measure.

    3. @marchdoe That's how they always do this. It's intentional - Hollywood wants to be able to be constantly claiming broken records. If they did it with constant dollars or ticket sales, "Gone with the Wind" would still be #1 - and where's the fun in that?

    4. @Joe - Just doesn't make that much sense to me. So a movie is viewed by more people, if less people pay a lot more money to see it? Math just doesn't work out. Cost doesn't equal popularity. Dark Knight might be a good movie, it isn't the best movie of all time and neither is Titanic (but we know this).

    5. @marchdoe Neither was Gone with the Wind, for that matter. In fact, I think you'd be hard pressed to find any of the best movies ever on the list of top money-makers.

But again, you have to realize what these dollar-records are about. They aren't about measuring the quality of a movie - it's all part of the Hollywood Hype Machine.

  3. I wonder how long the hungry people of the world could be fed on $500 million dollars.
