Netflix Credits Customer Accounts 15% - Is It Enough?

davidwallace.com — When Netflix stated Tuesday that they would be crediting people’s accounts, I thought that was a good move to attempt to absolve what was turning out to be a very nasty public relations situation for them. That is until I heard the actual amount - 15%.

  1. Having worked for some years in customer service, I can understand the dilemma facing Netflix. As the article says, 15% might be mathematically correct for a credit, but it isn't satisfying some folks. And maybe they should offer more than 15%. I mean, 15% does sound kinda stingy considering the problem seems to have covered nearly a week -- which regardless of the actual number of days involved will FEEL more like at least 25% of the month to their customers.

The problem is, even if they offered the 50% discount the article suggests, there would still be people screaming about how inadequate and unfair it all is. Heck, there would be some who wouldn't be satisfied if they offered to refund the entire month's subscription fee.

Sometimes, as a company, you simply have to offer what you think is fair and accept there are a few (unfortunately often very vocal) customers who wouldn't be satisfied if you built a time machine, went back to the past and stopped the problem before it ever happened (because if you did that, they'd simply find something else to complain about).

  2. I'm a big fan of Netflix and I have been a cutomer for years. It is not like they do not have a track record of delivering.

  3. I can't say that I really noticed that much of an issue. Maybe one of my dvds took a day longer than it should have done?

There are dead zones in the seas, species of animals dying out, war in eastern europe, political upheaval in Pakistan, and so many more things going on, that having a movie arrive a day later than it was supposed to really means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

  4. I know people are a fan of netflix...but have to say I love their commercials but have not tried them. So, I can't honestly comment.
