      "Man, I could write another novel in this area. But the main purpose of the LHC? Its to gain fundamental knowledge of the universe, more specifically mass. While its taught in school, we still do not know what mass is and even more so one its basica properties, inertia.

      With that said the phsycists hope to, among many other things, add to the what's called the Standard Model (think of the periodic table for particles). For almost a century its been nearly perfect and that's scary because that means we have an understanding of the universe that other areas of science can't support."
