Charlton Heston Dead at 84

Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84.

  1. Someone please remove Jacksonville, FL from locations. I don't know that happened.

  2. The Ten Commandments was one of his all-time greatest films, imo.

  3. This is heart breaking to me. Heston was one of the good guys, I have a personal letter of thank you from him on my wall from when he was President of the NRA. A great American has passed.

  4. I'm very shocked at this news. I know he was getting on in years, but you just can't imagine someone who said the lines "From My Cold Dead Hands" passing on. Doesn't matter whether you were a fan or not; or whether you agreed with his politics or not, this guy was a massive part of film history, May he rest in peace

  14. Some of my all time favourite movies growing up starred this man. Watch the fully restored version of Ben Hur and tell me your throat doesn't still close up at the end. Soylent Green, The Omega Man, and of course Planet of the Apes all blew my mind.
    Take your stinking paws off me, you damn, dirty ape.

  19. An actor to be remembered for centuries to come, and one of America's greatest defenders of freedom, the world mourns the death of a legend. Rest in Peace Mr. Heston.
