  1. Is it my imagination or does she sound like she's been investigated a lot for corruption

    1. @DarkNemesis618

      No I don't think it's your imagination.

  3. Smart move by the McCain team....(if you don't focus on the corruption thing).

Bring youth and religious groups back to the McCain camp but most importantly (being very sceptical here) reintroduce the 'First in the WhiteHouse' front to the campaign. The first woman VP versus first black President.

That said....win a lot of capitalist/religious votes versus piss off a load of people who want change(corruption investiagations) and environmentalists whilst splitting the feminist vote over a woman's right to abortion down the middle. Certainly she appears to be staunch Republican as they have come to be understood. I don't know if a Republican patch is going to be a good thing or not; certainly the McCain campaign is trying to pull away from it being a continuation of a Bush administration. Perhaps she'll be the counter balance which allows McCain to venture more into the middleground as she keeps the Republican fires burning on the right.

Maybe a home goal on the experience front too by McCain's team after biting into Obama on exactly that.

Could be a smart move...but now I'm not so sure anymore - I can see what they're trying to do.
    Time will tell.

  4. I would like to add that I have never heard of Mrs. Palin and know absolutely nothing about her, so I want to make it clear that I am not against her. The scenario leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth, and I am a professional career woman myself.

  5. As a voter with no party affiliation I like to consider who will lead if something happens to the president. I hope Senator McCain can show how Gov. Palin can handle that challenge. I hope this is not a political game because Sen Clinton, whether you like her or not, earned every single vote through her discussion and knowledge of the issues. This will show extremely poor judgement on his part if he can't show substance. (What's this abuse of power stuff about? Sounds like Cheney all over again.)

  6. Palin is a mighty woman, but not the best choice for VP candidate. This is a relatively blatant move for McCain to pick up the disgruntle Hillary vote, that will likely fail. McCain is the oldest first term nominee in history and has an extensive medical record. This choice doesn't make me comfortable. I wish he (they) had picked someone with better qualifications and less extensive family responsibilities.

  7. I hope McCain doesn't expect me to vote for him because of his VP choice. I didn't support Hilary Clinton BECAUSE she was a woman. I supported her because she was the candidate that I thought would make the best president. Palin's experience or qualifications don't even compare to those of Hillary Clinton. The McCain and the RNC is holding Palin up as their token female. It's so blatant and shows how desparate they really are to lure those 18 million Clinton supporters. It's not working, and as a woman, I am deeply offended by his choice. McCain and The Republican party just lost all credibility with me. Looks like I WILL be voting for Obama after all.

You're obviously not a Christian; A Christian voting for Obama is very much like a chicken voting for the Colonel.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    2. @t_treadway what you're saying that Obama is not a Christian? I think you should read up a bit more before you jump to conclusions.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    3. @DarkNemesis618 To say the "Trinity United Church of Christ" represents New Testament Christianity, or that it produces Christians is equivalent to saying Islam produces Christians. Sheer idiocy!! I'm not the one who needs to do some reading, you're the one who needs to get your head out of your keester and smell something different. What that so called Church produces is hate mongers who are as far removed from Christianity as anyone can get. Smell the anything different, vote McCain/Palin, the only sensible choice.

  8. Cop out stupid predictable move. The camp decides to name a female VP just to gain the woman voters. HEre is the deal guys, do you honestly NOT think Obama doesn't have a place for Hilary in his cabinet? I would like to make the prediction of "Secretary of State The Honorable Hillary Clinton". Everyone knows he needs foreign policy experience in his cabinet, I think Hillary would be perfect!
This is just a Bullshit move by McCain to gain female voters, and a sad one at that. Who the hell is this person? A Governor from Alaska? Isn't Alaska the same place where hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars were speant on a fucking BRIDGE TO NOWHERE? He is trying to get Alaska in his pocket to continue of with the plan for off shore drilling and onshore drilling that already threatens some tribal way of life (Fishing) for some of the native Eskimo populations. This is Bullshit! I agree with CNEAL! He is using her and so is his camp as the TOKEN Female! Very Offensive INDEAD! SCREW MCCAIN! SCREW HIM RIGHT IN THE GODDAMNED EAR!

  9. Excellent choice. Anyone who has ever thought about politics has been under investigation for corruption, else it couldn't be considered politics. She may not have the most experience, but at least she does have an intellect, just look at her accomplishments. Besides, after eight years as vice president, she'll be more than ready to be the first woman president.. Sen. DeMint has excellent comments, if only he would punch out Jim Clyburn to shut his idiotic mouth.

    • (0 Kudos received)
    1. @t_treadway If that's is seriously what you think then I believe if McCain is voted in, then get ready for the next four years to be like the past 8. Shitty!

      • (0 Kudos received)
    2. @t_treadway

I don't agree with you on her as a good choice for anything but I do agree with you your take on politicians. To run for political office a person is more than likely a power freak and someone like that will usually stop at nothing to get what they want, right or wrong. And unfortunately for any of them who are truly well meaning, like Ross Perot said, our corrupt system will eventually break them and turn them.

How well I remember the eight years prior to George W. Eight years of Bill Clinton, and oh, wasn't it just hilarious last night as Obama Hussein promised to create jobs by eliminating outsourcing when Bill Clinton throwed away billions bribing half way respectable Democrats to ratify NAFTA & GATT giving away all the jobs to start with. Then go back to another Democratic president who is still robbing Americans at the pump with his brilliant wind fall profits debacle.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    4. @t_treadway

Any working class person who isn't worried about out sourcing has their head in the clouds. The only people it benefits are the @#%$heads doing and promoting it. For the country it's devastating. I never voted for Bill Clinton but aside from his pushing of NAFTA and GATT he wasn't a bad president as far as I'm concerned (although that was pretty damn bad). A hell of a lot better than the crooks and criminals in office now. As for NAFTA and GATT I always believed he did that as a "I'll scratch your back you scratch my back" deal with the republican congress and they played him like a fiddle. But being the politician he is I don't put anything past any of them, they're there for themselves not us or the better of the country. Obama, while he seems like a decent guy, wasn't my choice but he might end up that way. If he weren't half black and was instead all white he wouldn't even exist as a candidate, how is that righteous? Being against someone because the color of their skin is wrong, being for someone just because the color of their skin is just as wrong. I'm totally fed up with the "if you're against the spoon fed, business as usual, white, well to do, establishment you have to vote for the super, wonderful black man" bullshit but if he is for trying to help the middle class he has my ear. Actually I don't hold him personally to blame for that whole spiel that's why I might vote for him. I despise the group, "lemmings into the sea" mentality that our country has become but commercialism and the boob tube can be thanked for that.

  10. I just looked at the video of Palin and McCain. Palin was introducing her family. McCain was standing there looking absolutely miserable and unhappy. His body English said "how did I get into this?". I think McCain was talked into this by who knows who and really didn't want Palin as his VEEP. Look at the video and watch the way he's twisting his fingers and fiddling. He is not a happy camper.

Furthermore, I think he's had some bad news about something and is not happy. I don't think he trusts her.

  11. Not that I was very likely going to vote for McCain but with her as his VP choice there's no way in hell. Miss kill all the wolves so lard asses can run to Alaska and shoot caribou for trophies. She's a strong proponent of the turd's using helicopters to chase down and shoot wolves because they compete with hunters, or so they like to say. And I used to be an NRA member and still would be if they weren't pushing crap like that. Of course if you look at all the other shady stuff she's been involved with she fit's right into that party. Ignorant people with way more money and influence than they should have just being ignorant people.

  12. But McCain has no respect for women, as is continually documented. This is nothing but a shameless, hypocritical plea for clinton's votes.

If he wins, rest assured this woman will be stuffed in a closet somewhere along with Laura Bush.

    1. @calinazaret I had to look up her name online because I couldn't remember!

  13. Oooh. I just noticed something about McCain when he was introducing Palin. He wasn't wearing the American Flag in his lapel. I guess he's unpatriotic, unamerican and a terrorist.

Isn't that what the Republicans said about Obama not wearing a lapel pin??

    • (1 Kudos received)
    1. @Kerry HOLD THE PRESSES!!!! Is McCain being hypocritical again?!?

No surprise, say one thing, do another...seems to be the way of the Republican party nowadays

  15. Too little experience. Bad choice.

    • (0 Kudos received)
    1. @jdow I think the points you made in your initial comment were spot on. "Too Little Experience" is just a quicker way to summarize it

      • (0 Kudos received)
    2. @jdow I read your first version and I agreed with it 100%.
You are right. The experience thing is really interesting, especially since the Republicans are on and on and on about Obama's lack of experience. If anyone had to choose between Palin or Obama in terms of experience alone--you'd ahve to go with Obama.

    3. "Is she ready to lead?"

      Thanks... I can't remember what I wrote :)

It's very irresponsible for the Republicans to pick her as a running mate. It's just a sampling of the extremely bad, incompetent choices that are going to come if McCain gets elected.

  19. I think that This Choice that John McCain has made Is The Perfect Answer to the Democratic Failed Convention! This Lady is a Fire Cracker Republican that I have been watching for years! Honestly she Stands Alone, Fights and Wins! She is Amazing! Also she appears to be a Very Just and Friendly Individual, One I would like to meet! I Do Believe that This Team with Win in November and Take Back the White House in January! No Problem! Peace to All and God Bless! Jane.

  20. Brilliant choice. Pundits are talking about the population of Alaska. What they fail to note is its natural resources are vital for us for any progress on new technologies and getting away from oil. Alaska is the best of both worlds and so is Palin. Besides, it's nice to add some pep to our 72 yr old's ticket!

    • (0 Kudos received)
    1. @thirtyone
Alaska's resources have nothing to do with Palin. She's a small-time mayor and former beauty queen. President Palin would be worse than 4 more years of Bush. I say "President Palin" because, lets be blunt -- McCain is an old guy, 7 years past retirement age, who has had 4 bouts with cancer. There is a significant chance that she might become President if McCain is elected and he gets sick.

      • (0 Kudos received)
  21. I am so offended by this pic. Even if she brings McCain down and hands the election to Obama (and I very much want Obama to win) I still wish he hadn't picked her. I am offended. Choosing Palin makes a mockery of the whole process. As an American, I am offended, disgusted, furious. I have been so angry all day. Even my Republican parents are outraged - my Mom thinks she might vote for Obama now, and even though I don't think my Dad would ever break from McCain, he is so furious about how irresponsible this pick is, and he worries about McCain's "Machiavellian" (his words) tactics.

I am so mad. This is dirty for so many reasons.

  22. One question: why do politicians make claim to be "pro life" if they support the DEATH penalty?

    • (0 Kudos received)
    1. @sacsfsm It goes both ways. Conservatives are anti-abortion and pro-death penalty, liberals are pro-death penalty for babies and anti-death penalty for adults. None of it makes sense! I believe in respecting all life as much as possible, everywhere. No one has the right to kill another.

      • (1 Kudos received)
    2. @sacsfsm I'm anti abortion and used to use the term pro-life to describe myself, but I no longer do, because I became aware that people were misunderstanding what I was saying. I am indeed anti-death penalty, but I can't say I'm anti-euthanasia. I'm not sure precisely where I come out on euthanasia, but I'm certain there are instances where it should be allowed. However, with abortion - I'm one of those "crazies" who thinks that even in instances of rape and incest that abortion should not be an option. However, I do think that in certain instances where the mother's life is verrrrry at risk because of the pregnancy (I haven't devised a line in my head for that one yet... that's a tough one) or where it would be arguably euthanasia for the baby to end the pregnancy. Justifiable euthanasia - meaning, not like oh my baby is deformed or disabled, but like would definately, absolutley, 100% die an excruciatingly painful death within 2 days of being born (I know someone who is anti abortion but aborterd her baby under those circumstances... and I support that... why bring a baby outside the womb only to experience 2 days of excruciating pain due to an incruable condition, pain that could not be alleviated, and then have it definately die wihtin 48 hours? wouldn't it prefer a human euthanasia abortion?)

Anyways, all of these issues are so complicated, and I try my best to not get too emotional in terms of demonizing the other side. Believe it or not, I have friends who've been raped and very strongly disagree with my views regarding abortion not being allowed to those who got pregnant through rape, but we had direct, civil - actually, oddly enough but I swear to goodness, warm conversations about our respective views.

I've also had people tell me I am an offense to my gender, and that actually really hurts... I believe in a lot of feminist ideals.

I've had people tell me that I should have been aborted (without them realizing it - they were... passionately telling me how we should abort the mentally ill in utero because of the burden they are to society. OOPS I'm mentally ill. And you know what? That really hurt too. I know those views are out there, and again, I try to emotionally distance myself from demonizing people with opposing viewpoints about things even like taht which are soooo emotionally close to me, but it still hurts)

And, I'm like so Obama '08 it's not even funny. And with the addition of Sarah Palin on the ticked, I'm actually more anti-McCain '08 than ever!

The world is complex. And there are multiple issues out there. And multiple issues within other issues. And I think it's super (seriously, so great, good for her) that's she's out there, a prominent woman who's pro-life and that she decided to have her downs syndrome child and hopefully she'll love that baby and raise it with as much respect as her other children. But I'm not a one issue voter. And I'm offended by her nomination for vice president, I don't want McCain, and I will fight as hard as I can in my everyday life to get Obama-Biden into the White House!

wow, I wonder how long this comment is?

  24. I just read the article by the linguist who studied Palin and Biden's debate language. The article was just about worthless. About as helpful as invented spelling.

Thursday night at Washington U. Palin used so many run-on sentences that my head started to swim. She would start out with one sentence plan then paste it on to a total different sentence. Freshman Comp grade for Sarah would be no higher than 1.0. As the profs like to say, "You shoulda had a lot of this in high school." At this point in her life, I don't know if there's a lot of hope for Sarah. She might be permanently grammatically handicapped.

Please don't let her out of the country. That's the last thing we need.
