  2. An animal should be put down only if it's in serious condition with no chance of recovery. When you adopt an animal you have a responsibility to care for it like any other family member, throughout its life.

  3. The cost of pet food, shots, checkups not to mention emergency pet care if your pet gets hit by a car, for instance.

    I had dogs growing up, but now that I have my own apartment, I just can't afford a pet until I get a better-paying job!
