juicysnake.com — While I am totally glad to see so many refugees from Digg hanging out with us at Mixx, we need to realize something. Mixx is NOT Digg.

    Well said, Jay.

  2. True and I agree but as long as they continue improving and attracting more people, Mixx will survive.

A lot about this site makes it better than Digg. I never got a Digg Bat before.

  4. Mixx is way more of a community than Digg could ever be.

  5. Amen. The one-size-fits-all front page of Digg is terrible. Why they don't use tags & favorite categories to offer users custom home pages (like Mixx) is beyond me.

  6. Uh, I'm not banned yet (last time I checked) and had joined Mixx before the massive migration began. Am just looking for something different and hoping that Mixx can fill that niche.

  7. Digg never interested me at all. Ever. Which is why when I found Mixx I signed up. I love Mixx the way it is, and the way it seems to be going. In no way do I want it going near the Digg route.

  8. Digg refugee here, but also I HAVE been an active member of mixx. For some reason though, I had been made to think that digg was a better place to spend the bulk of my time. Boy, was I wrong. (newbie)

I am so happy that I was banned... really!

Because of my 'refugee" status now, I have made such great new friends here on mixx. Mixx themselves, has also been more than kind. One of the things that I find most appealing about my mixx friends, is that they are so very kind with my more "conservative" submissions. Never rude, and always respectful.

I credit mixx, for creating such a welcoming atmosphere and creating a place where many differences, can come together as one. It really is a great MIXX:-)

Here's to the future of mixx!

    1. @LdsNana exactly; that's what I love about mixx; people being respectful and kind.

    2. @LdsNana I agree. I was here at MIXX, and didn't get DIGG. Then I started to try to figure DIGG out. Just got a handle on it when bam - banned for life. So, I am spending my digg and mixx time here. The people here are easier to communicate with and are very helpful.

    3. @LdsNana I agree with everything you stated Kathryn, well put. I wouldn't say I'm very conservative but I am really opinionated in many areas and I've never been chastised or flamed for "having" a view here at Mixx. I actually did enjoy Digg also so I'm not going to sit around and trash the site just because I was banned. :D I will say this though, there were a lot of things I did NOT like about Digg and one big thing that always bugged me was how worthless Digg Management made the users seem and feel. The Mixx team has never even once made me feel this way. Wait, I'll take that back, there was one time I was a little annoyed and voiced my opinion and Chris McGill immediately took issue with my concern. It is definitely a different place around here my fellow Mixx masters. :P

      Nice and simple post Jay.

P.S. For all the newcomers, errr Digg refugees I just wanted to note that I did get banned from Mixx but you don't see me around these parts because of that. I've been with Mixx since the beginning and I've been active here the whole time. Glad you found the other wonder child of social news. If we were buddies on Digg, hit me up here anytime and if we weren't what are you waiting for? Be my friend! :D

    4. @webaddict Umm, don't you mean banned from Digg?

    5. @Energizer7 Doh! I did. Thanks for the catch. That's what I get when I comment late at night. Instead of Mail Googles like Google's new weekend test for late night drunks to send email, I need a Mixx Goggles one at night. :D

  10. Sorry for this:

I've posted it before I saw this great article.
I agree wholeheartedly. Comparison must stop.

  11. Downvoted. I don't really think the problem that's bad but what I don't like about the article (besides it being on Juicy Snake, instead of Social Blend) is that the article kind of preaches what it's trying to tell you not to do.

I'm not a Digg user. Only had an abandoned account which I never bothered to use but it's only natural for Digg refugees to want Mixx to be like Digg since many of them were ok with the site until they got banned so obviously that's their litmus test for what they consider a great social media site.

Still, that's not it either. It's obviously a difference of opinion but I think if a writer wanted to portray Mixx as different from Digg, there's so many other features they can use to highlight it's differences rather than the tagging system because "Digg with tags" is all I got from the article.

Oh and the background is also too dark. :)
