  1. It's pretty sad to see quality content held back beacuse a user submitting it has a lot of friends or frequent success on Digg.com. It's not the submitter who loses, it's the whole Digg community.

  2. since my account was removed from digg for no apparent reason and all of my inquires about it go unanswered I have no sympathy for digg and its problems.

  3. I've got to say I had a hard time understanding what that article was about. The writing wasn't very clear or easy to follow at all.

Also, not to be a prick, but the term "data" is plural. Therefore, a sentence should read "these data are" not "this data is."

Um, not that it really matters in a blog . . . at all . . . but if this were a scientific paper it would totally matter.

ok, I'm done being a jerk now.

  5. @cGt2099 shit, I'd make that my avatar if I didn't think it might be horribly misinterpreted.

  6. It seems if you bash Bush, Fox News or the Republicans, you can get many diggs. Even off the wall stories that might be inaccurate get many diggs. Just shows you that people just read the head lines and digg the story without reading it.

  7. Meh.
    I like the digg articles.
BUT I would prefer more diversity in the articles and more maturity in the comments...

  8. you know what? i sort of troll (in the fishing sense) Digg from time to time to pick up a story to post here (yeah, so what?) and lately it's become like 100-1 lousy..i have to go through like 5 or 6 pages of "front page" to find one i think the ELITE MIXXERS (ahem) would like...so i've almost given it up entirely.

i really shouldn't tell you this, but for good content go to redddit

  10. hopefully the above won't get deleted like another recent one in a comment thread you were, umm, involved in, eh?

so, hows school and the central coast going for you anyways? still coming to San Diego soon??????????????

  11. @yoda ACtually, I did have a dream rather recently about forsaking my university and going down to UCSD. However, that will probably not happen, because I love my funky little beach town too much.

Also, no need for the snarkiness. We're all buddies here. Sometimes you say something and it gets misinterpreted. It happens, man.

  12. You know, as a new mixxer I do see a lot of the "Why Dig Sucks" type articles popping up which kind of brings down the mood. I remember in highschool when I would hang with one group of friends only to roll my eyes whenever they'd slam on other groups. Ok, loose analogy, but the point is pretend Digg doesn't exist ... do your own thing. Taking shots at established competitions only (to me anyways) makes mixx look insecure and petty. Which it isn't. I'm loving it. Put down...the gun...

  13. @calinazaret i'll have to look that up. what town did you say you live in?

  14. @MattoMcFly excellent point. a lot of Mixxers seem to use Digg as an easy target to get lots of "Karma Points" but i IS getting very old.

    • (0 Kudos received)
  15. @MattoMcFly It's gotten a lot better in the past six months; When mixx first started it seemed like every other story was digg bashing.

I think part of it has to do with that fact that some people have complaints about digg if you submit the story over there it gets autoburied (and yes, I've seen this happen.) Therefore, mixx is the only place to state your complaints.

After a while, mixxers like me just completely stop going to digg and then have nothing to complain about anymore. So, less anti-digg stories on mixx. Just give it time is what I say.

  16. @yoda I said I live in a funky little beach town ;)

Not the motivation behind this post
Mu Saleem wrote this article, and I enjoyed reading it, hence the post
Karma Points won't help me in my next job interview, mate

  18. @Yoda - Karma points? You don't say...finally I can attone for that one night in Vegas. AS for the other nights...well...
@calinazaret - I'm slowly being swayed to the mixx end although I have to admit I use both Digg and Mixx equally. I think its because I am more of a peruser than a submitter, but given what you're saying I can see how being autoburied in a forum that should be free.

    Oh well..meeting cool people here

  19. @calinazaret oh, i thought in all the conversations we had "back in the day" when you first came to Mixx and used to help admin the group, that you had told me where you lived. remember all that? oops.

anyways looks like we lost jj too, now...sigh

  20. @cGt2099 i never said any such thing, in fact, i enjoyed this, so thanks.

i was just generalizing to someone who was interested in it, is all.

    DIGG SUCKS DONKEY DICKS!!!!! LMAO

  21. @yoda I never told you exactly where I lived, just south of San Fransisco. Then I think we got off on a tangent about something else. It's not big deal; I might be moving soon anyway ^_^

    • (0 Kudos received)
  22. @calinazaret moving? i thought you were busy with school through the fall? gonna drop out already?

    • (0 Kudos received)
  23. @calinazaret does that mean you will come back to the Hall Monitor job?

    • (0 Kudos received)
  24. @yoda Not dropping out, I'm actually going to be taking a summer class while I'm moving, which is going to suck. I'm moving because we're not using the extra bedroom in our apartment and it's costing us roughly $300/month. That's a lot of money to store crap we're planning on getting rid of anyway.

So yeah. We're going to live in the same basic area, just downsized.

    • (0 Kudos received)
  25. @calinazaret what kind of stuff r u getting rid of? got an old iPod for sale or anything?

    • (0 Kudos received)
  26. @yoda hey, I tried to send you a mixx mail and I can't. Did you block me or something?

A lot of it's old papers and clothes and other random things that have very little value. I sold my gameboy advance on ebay for $27. After shipping, which was $22 because the buyer lived in a "rural area" I made approximately $5 profit! Just barely enough for a gallon of gas.

There's also a ton of books. I've got three full bookshelves of books that I want to KEEP, and a few stacks more that I'm trying to get rid of. For some reason Goodwill didn't want to take my husband's old programming books, so if you're interested in learning Assembly let me know, lol. I also ended up with a bunch of extra Shakespeare and old western philosophy books for some reason.

  27. @calinazaret

y would i block you? hmmm. maybe we were never official friends to begin with? i just got added by MarkCarras the other day, and i was like, i've known this dude for my whole life practically and we aren't friends yet? and he was all like, dude, i'm a busy guy and i may have blocked you for sending out SO much stuff, but its nothing personal, i'll be going full speed this summer, and i love your stuff. so i'm like well gee i hope so and thanks a lot dude you rock...so it's probably something like that! i go check it out.
