Study of 'Daily Show': It's a lot like O'Reilly view story

The Project for Excellence in Journalism also said it was surprised at how much the Comedy Central late-night program resembles "The O'Reilly Factor," "Hardball" and other cable news shows in content.

  1. seeing as that's what it's poking fun at, it makes sense

  2. I disagree. First of all, the Daily doesn't make nearly as many mean spirited attempts at smearing people's reputations, misstating the intent of the speaker, or corrosive editing to twist the speaker's meaning 180 degrees, for obvious reasons, as does FOX in particular.
Also, as mentioned in the piece by a Daily insider, but never commented on by the articles author, was the fact that one DOES have to be somewhat "up to speed" with world news to follow the Daily Show. Whereas FOX spoon feeds it's audience from A to Z, repeatedly and excessively. To the point, I think. of overkill.
Nah, no correlation between these shows other than the constant fact that their all anchored or hosted in the Daily Show's case, by White males.
    But surely, that's another Post!

I haven'r read the report, but I think where they're going with this is that all the shows
use news content to convey their own particular POV's--good or bad, depending on which
side of the fence you are on.

  4. You're right, I focused in on the comparison and was immediately offended. It was more about content than content, right? LOL
