  2. Meh. None of those myths really were myths to me, they were things I already know. And while I don't think they should have to fly coach to get to meetings, or even commercial. But let's not pretend that the only alternatives are JetStreams.

I personally don't have a problem with a CEO flying in a private jet. I have a problem with the trickle-down theory of some of the aid that is being proposed and how it's portrayed. Poor or even middle class person wants help from the government they pay 30 - 40% of their salary to each year and it's a handout. But when corporations do it, it's okay.

Yes, they make a bigger tax contribution as individual bodies but at some point, the individual in this country needs to be taken care of as much as the corporation. And at minimum, there needs to be a better correlation shown to how helping the auto industry and other corporate groups will help the average person, in real numbers, not theory. I believe it could have a positive impact on the economy, done correctly.

  3. Thank you for submitting this. As someone who grew up in Michigan in a family full of auto workers (my father was a General Motors man) I'm getting really tired of all the vitriol being spewed at the big 3 right now. People think they sound informed and enlightened with their wild-eyed "No bailout!" cries, not realizing the utter devastation a collapse of these companies would render on the nation, and not realizing that the execs are, in fact, not utterly stupid. Worst of all are those who call UAW workers lazy and decry the existence of unions, with no thought to the benefits that they themselves now reap thanks to people who sacrificed - some even gave their lives - to organize workers.

My father is one of those men. It's clear to me that most of the anti-union crowd are privileged, spoiled brats who have no idea what it's like to rely on those unions for your well-being.
