  1. interesting. not sure what I think of this new adsense addition yet.

however, it does give something new to google contextual ads, "call to action"

does this new addition mean more click throughs? i imagine google did some extensive usability testing before launching this new product, so probably yes.

  5. They still have some things to work through. Once a friend of mine sent me a news story about a 12-year old boy who committed suicide over a game system, or something like that, and gmail came up with an ad that said "Find 12-year old boys on Ebay! Now!"

Well you've got to remember that the ads are contextually based... and people bidding on certain keywords. But that particular ad seems a little scary.

  8. I think it'll help. People can slide through ads (I think) and choose something relevant or at least they'll see more ads, increasing our odds.

  10. @teasastips well if someone is genuinely interested in cycling through the ads to find a better result then sure... I don't think you have a choice on whether or not you want to implement this. It seems to be a blanket test with no way to opt-out.

  12. I'm not sure it will do much good, but it can't do any harm. Those who ignore the ads won't see them anyway.

  16. Brandon: Isn't this submission, in your own words "blogspam"? You're a hypocrite who applies double standards.

  17. @onreact.com onreact... I called that post blogspam because it would have been nice to link to the actual article. Considering I posted this before any official announcement from Google I don't see a problem with it. I noticed the scrolling ads on one of my own blogs and did some research as to whether or not anyone else had reported it... I couldn't find anything so I wrote up a quick post of what I discovered. When I see an official announcement from Google I will surely update my post with that information. I haven't had a chance to search for an official announcement in the past 2 hours so if someone has that link handy please send it my way.

I think you are taking my statement out of context and you are clearly angry at me for burying some of your stories... I'm going to stay out of the drama, that's why I left digg.

  18. Daggone adsense. They refused me because my blog uses too many dirty words and I sometimes link to NSFW pics of nude gals. Rarely anymore, but whatever. Not like I'd make any money with them anyway...

As for the new interface, it's not going to get me interested in the ads any more. I've never clicked on an adsense ad once, and I don't see this changing it. Still, if you see something you like, it would come in handy.
