  1. Shame on Israel for this in-human act.

    1. @jasmine we can ague what is right or not right in the use of force against each other, but Hamas is not the Innocent one here, both sides have had their share of Faults depending on who's side you are on. Why would you want to continue to fight someone knowing that you will never defeat them? Even with a cease fire or Peace Agreement both sides will still have their differences etc. Why doesn't Hamas show the world that they truly want peace and maybe they will have support from Other countries. Isn't Germany and Japan our friends now even after what we did to them in WW2. It can be done.

    2. @NICKinSD I missed the part after "both side have had their share of Faults" where you point out Israels faults, ???

    3. @jasmine We begin another year in the same spot where we left off last year -- stalemate. Hamas is determined to resist and fight Israel to the bitter end, and Israel has a right to defend itself from rocket attacks. Hamas has ruined its chances for political viability and will now be eradicated.

New leadership will emerge to replace them, and hopefully will bear stronger intellect than Hamas. Israel will tolerate Palestinians. Will Palestinians ever tolerate Israel? When the answer is "yes," there will be progress toward peaceful resolution. If the answer is "no," there will be no future for Hamas.

How about taking that bright mind of yours and work with the Palestinians to develop leadership that can negotiate and gain support for the people?

    7. @jim.george
I know where we can start this from. A UN resolution!
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council_Resolution_242

      (From the Resolution)

      "The Security Council,

Expressing its continuing concern with the grave situation in the Middle East,

Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war and the need to work for a just and lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in security, " (check the link for Complete Text)

UN seemed to have figured it out in 1967 that if Israel doesn't leave the occupied areas then there will be no "Lasting peace in which every State in the area can live in Security".

So, as per the UN Resolution, I have come to a conclusion that Palestinians already accepted the State of Israel as mentioned in the UN Resolution and They want the implementation of UN Resolution 242 which gives us a simple solution for lasting peace in the region.

Israel always play the victim's role which helps them hiding the real matter under the carpet, which is the Implementation of UN Resolution 242.

Why isn't Israel implementing UN Resolutions? whether it's UN-242 in 1967 or the resolution just few days ago about ceasefire.

They never seem to care what UN or International Community thinks about their acts.

And that's what makes people desperate and then they take matter in their own hands and this is the point where Hamas or Hezbollah gets strong...!

Agree or not this is the root cause of this Problem and people know it.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    8. @jasmine you said: "Israel always play the victim's role which helps them hiding the real matter under the carpet, which is the Implementation of UN Resolution 242."

To me and many others, it seems that Hamas is constantly playing the victim role... they fire over 10,000 rockets into another country over a 10 year period, and then when the big bad mean bully has finally had enough and slaps them silly, they say "Look! Look! they are killing us!"

I will agree with your last statement about why Hamas and Hezbollah move to action... the desperation part of it. But I would also say... Israel is not entirely to blame for that. Come on. The entire culture there is rather desperate, and why not! In a culture that treats women like property, has no capacity for open mindedness, vilifies true democracy, etc. etc. etc... THAT's to a large degree where the desperation lies.. but they can't even see if for themselves they are so focused on the "injustice" of 1947...

At this point in history, the Arab world needs to resolve to accept Israel's presence, in some form or another; many people don't believe that is possible... hence all this trouble.

Having said that, Israel at this point, today, this week... NOW... needs to pull out of Gaza, and then wait and watch and allow Hamas to prove thier worth... if the rockets continue to cross into Israel, then everyone will know who's really causing all of the problems. But at this point, even if Israel is right from a philosophical view, they are loosing thier place in the international community... a heavy price will be paid I'm sure. Too many civilians have been hurt, regardless of the fact that these Hamas militants are drawing the fire into mosques and neighborhoods. Enough is Enough.

    9. @Skeptik people like you who support isreal are so blind to the fact, you keep coming up with the rocket but have you heard of the isreal crimes over the years, have you heard of Sabra-Shatila and how isreal had a big hand in that, have you heard of the kllings of the last 60 years have you heard how bad the situation has been the last 60 years. of course not hamas fired 10000 rocket mostly into fields, let go of that argument because Israel killed more than 10000 people in the last 60 from the Palestinians.
And you speak of a culture you know nothing about, you read a few articles in the news on how badly treated woman there. Just a few facts for you from someone who has been to a few of the Arabic counties. All of the Arabic countries in Middle East with the exception of saudi Arabia has no laws forcing anyone woman to dress a certain way, go to school, drive, work or do whatever they want. Women have jobs in all fields and do whatever they want, but I guess reading some article beats real life knowledge. Do yourself a favor take a visit to Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, even Syria and see. Are there countries and as you describe it “The entire culture there is rather desperate”
On the flip side look how they look at your culture from readying a few articles, priests rape kids, everyday there is woman being raped or murder, school teaches having sex with kids, kids shooting up schools, high rate of HIV diseases, drugs are every ware, every street has a gang. What they will say is “The entire culture there is rather desperate, and has no morals what so ever” so you see its easy to make judgments when you don’t know. Is there a few priest who rape kids sure but those are the bad ones, you don’t read anything about the good ones, same with teaches drugs same with everything, the news only puts the bad and people make judgment about an entire culture based on a paper with some ink on it or some one dimensional footage that shows the bad in people. Did you ever stop and think that each one is happy with their own culture. It’s human nature to pass judgment but they fail to see their own flows

      • (0 Kudos received)
    10. @superman1011 I never said the place has no morals... you are interjecting on my comment.

But, you are entitled to your opinion. Its a known fact that women are not treated well in Arab countries, in general. You can refute me all you want... this isn't something I came up with out of thin air.

Further, sure, the United States is not without it's own problems. But why are so many people from all over the world flocking here year after stinking year? Because it's worse than were they came from?

      Stars and Stripes forever!

      • (0 Kudos received)
    11. @Skeptik you totally missed the point. I was not saying you said that they have no morals, I am saying that they say that about the US.

your point about will documented is totally coming from the media, you hear about a few things in Afghanistan, saudi arabi and you made the leap the entire culture is rather desperate, as I said visit and then talk. is there some cases that woman are oppressed sure, everyplace in the world has that. do you hear anything about girls used in sex slavery in the US and around the world? do you hear about religious sects in the US, that the government cant do anything about

and to your last point, your making my point, every places has its problems. your talking to someone who left his home land because of the Israeli occupation and the horrors that was inflected on us by that occupation and came to the US to live in freedom without restriction and with out torturer. so believe when I tell I know the value of this country more than you do.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    12. @Skeptik

      Consider this:

"Peaceful Jews are for the most part coordinated by the Israeli government via the various liberal Jewish organizations in the US. They serve to deflect blame from Jews as a group by creating a false cover for the perpetrators of racist genocide. Instead of confronting the supporters of mass murder in their own community, they act as representatives of the Jewish community, creating a false impression of Jewish non-support for Israel. In truth, even the peace Jews tend to unite with the far right when the question is Jewish Israel's American tax funded existence. An example of this was when Tikkun united aggressively with the Neocon establishment to snuff out a City Council vote on taking public moneys out of Israeli investments in Somerville, Ma. This "peace" Zionist organization deliberately misled the public on the issues involved in a local ballot question regarding the Palestinian Right of Return.

Let's get this straight. Israel's existence depends on committing genocide with your tax money. All the aggression that Israel commits is done in defense of Israel's existence."

  2. Is Israel presence in Palestine an invasion? Before 1948, or so, there was no such country as Israel.
Did Saddam Hussein invade Kuwait some time ago? Whasn't there a world wide coalition (led by the U.S., of course) to kick Iraq out of Kuwait?
Move Israel to Arizona and be rid of the problem...someone has made this statement before...
European settlers justified to themselves the eradication and invasion of native american culture and land by calling it "manifest destiny". People believed this and set out for the West. The rest is history, as they say.
Unfortunately, there was no one around to control the U.S. government for this genocide.
I can go on with the history lesson, but the main question here is as to why the news does not report Israel presence in Palestine as an invasion and then let countries act and people form an opinion with a more informed point of view.
These silly news are nothing more than entertaiment when the truth is left out.
Hmmm...let's see if I get the formula right:

    1) Make up a story
    2) Control information
    3) Convince others and yourself that your story is the truth
    4) Invade a country based on 1-3 above
    5) Justify anything that you do from there on
    6) Make the rest of the world pay for 1 above

The unfortunate part here is that with time, people and their children and their children's children will not know as to why they live surrounded by so much conflict.
This will be a result of whatever has been imprinted on their psyche and their actions will be justified because violence, conflict, death and retaliation that is all they know.
This applies to us, Jews and to Arabs alike.

    1. @terrible_machine ...Hamas has been relentless over the last decade or so -- shelling Israel with over 3000 rockets -- even during periods of mutually declared cease fires. Where is the [Hamas] honesty there? Hamas uses times of “peace” to restock their weapons . Where is the [Hamas] sincerity to come to terms of peace? IS THAT MAKING UP A STORY??? Are you a Hamas Propagandist – sure sounds like it! Now that the Israeli’s are uncovering and destroying tunnels that allow weapons into the Hamas territory, who’s to blame for the continued fighting (over the years)? To bring in the U.S. History of Native Americans is to distort the reality of today. Native Americans were raiding other Native American villages -- killing and kidnapping the other's people. Gee, where can we draw a parallel even today???? Hmmm??? Oh yeah, the Mid-East! Iraq invades Kuwait (remember that only 17 years ago???); Iraq and Iran 10 years war (the 80’s???); bloody tribal wars in Afghanistan – ongoing. Shall I continue? Israel is not “invading” (another lie or misinformation) the Palestinian’s – they are on a counter-offensive to rid the Hamas of their HATE inspired weapons caches ONCE AND FOR ALL! Hamas and their predecessors have nurtured their children and grandchildren on doctrines of HATE whereas the Israelis continue to nurture their children and grandchildren with academic education and intellectual growth and grown the infrastructure (schools, industry, etc.) to that end. Nope, Hamas, et al, continues to live the lie that “everyone” is against them… Actually, with all the UN funding provided over the decades, it is a fact that the World wants to see the Palestinians to grow and become a contributing member of the world. Now, I could go on, but I’ll save some for later…

    2. @ARGH99
Fact: Israel blocked food, medical supplies, and basic humanity aid DURING the cease fire.

Fact: No Israeli citizens was killed during the cease fire and over 25 Palestinians living in Gaza were killed by the IDF

Fact: Israel is not allowing any press in to Gaza to cover any of its statements about what is going on. Neither to verify their statements or contradict them.

Fact: Around 600 citizen of Gaza have been killed in the past 9 days compared to 5 or 6 Israelis. A 1 to 100 ratio

Fact: Israel occupies the West Bank completely and is in complete control of Gaza’s water supply, electricity, food, and movement and has placed Gaza in a jail by building a wall inside Gaza inside Palestine’s 1967 borders.

Fact: Right now the entire world and I mean the entire world except for, of course, America looks at Israel as a terrorist state.

Fact: Israel interest and American interest by definition of them being separate countries can not always be the same and can sometimes be polar opposites.

Fact: The fact the we support Israel in EVERYTHING (killing of women, children, stealing land, and committing ethnic cleansing) is a main reason of our defeat in trying to win the heart and minds of that region and is unquestionably hurting the U.S.’s so called “war on terror.”

Opinion: statements like yours can only be made by an uneducated racist that believes that Arab lives are somehow less valuable.

Fact: I, as an American and a human being, care about America and basic human rights for everyone, which includes the people that are hurt by the Hamas’s acts and innocent Palestinian being killed and deprive basic human rights for the past 60 years, and not about Israel government’s land-grab goals. Israel is violating human rights and hurting American interest. And anyone that think Israel is doing this for “self defense” is as naive as they are brainwashed.

Fact: Israel will lose - they might not lose this battle they might end up killing more Palestinians - which in some peoples eyes is victory. They will lose any sense of Justice or Law and their soul as they start being viewed as a murderous state that believes they are superior to others and most importantly their argument for existence. How can anyone claim that a country is owed to a particular religious group because of Nazi holocaust only to have that particular religious group engage in a new holocaust against native people of Palestine? The irony is overwhelming. . . I can not understand how some Israelis do not see that the propaganda and lies used to get backing of German population to back the killing of innocent people is being used on them. Some Jews escaped the holocaust with their lives, other escaped with their lives and Hitler’s playbook.

As to Israel losing... hmmm sounds like the book of revelations... if we believe that, the entire world will turn on them and Armegedon will ensue. Maybe you're right...

Can you tell me why it makes HEADLINES every time an Israel citizen is killed? when 100 times that many are killed every day here in the US. Why is it being reported when an Israeli soldier is injured? What about our people STILL fighting 2 WARs. No word on them

    7. this is to jbmagroup youre talking about human rights but i bet you buy products that use kids to work in them. and Isreali has suffered suicide attacks, car bombs, stabbings, bus bombs, and anything else that can be used by hamas and hezbholla it(isreali) is surrounded by enimies and having to fight for their survival if you feel you would be welcomed with open arms and treated humanly by the people that spread this hate you would be the next american getting there head cut off for a prisoner exchange. but you are right the last time a jewish state was around before 1948 was post roman times i think its around 600 AD not sure on the date.

    8. @jbmagroup on fact #3,if israel is not allowing any press into gaza...then how do you have ANY facts at all that supports hamas(a terrorist group)or is it you who is brainwashed with"theories".how can you state a fact like that supports hamas when you..and you said it...not me...that israel wont let the press in to talk to hamas to get their side.so let me break it down for you barney style.if you have not been able to hear from hamas their side of the story "because israel wont let the press in",then how is it that you have any facts at all because wouldnt you have to have both sides of the story to state any facts?sounds like a contradiction on your part or do have some inside connection with hamas and you're not telling anyone?

By writing “most of the world knows your nothing but terrorists” do you mean the small minority of religious Zionist freaks? I hope for the world’s sake that you don’t ever have children. I think you would do a lot of good if you let you genes die with you. 9-11 has nothing to do with what is going on in Gaza. The holocaust is actually a better historic event to compare to what is going on in Gaza then 9-11. The Nazis ghettoized the Jewish people before they started killing them off just like Israel is doing. Israel is actually using the same propaganda as the Nazis did to get public support. The only relationship between 9-11 and Israel is a substantial cause of 9-11 is the U.S.’s foreign policies which supports Israel in everything they do regards of how much they violate international law or how EVIL their acts may seem to the rest of the world. Actually 9-11 and the current event do have some things in common. Innocent people died in both because of religious freaks 9-11 because of Osama and Gaza because of the majority of Israeli government.

    2. @flight42 I'm from NY, just north of the city. There were fighter jets flying over my school on 9/11, my I didn't know where my Dad was at first when I found out about it, and I burst into tears at school. My Dad got trapped on Manhattan (he commutes into the city everyday) along with other family members and ended up being part of the mass pedestrian exodus, walking across the island. i stood in line to give blood on September 11th. I was surrounded by the tears, and frantic fear that helped define that day for me. The number of people I personally know who were directly impacted by the attacks are countless. I visited the site one week after it happened while it was still burning and saw those police officers, and I saw NY come together, and strangers hugging and crying, and smelled the morbid death smell that was everywhere and saw the dust caking everything and the the missing people posters plastered... everywhere....

And the day after september 11th, when asked about my reaction to the horrors of yesterday, I said I feared a dangerous surge in the US of jinghoism and that i thought we should try to understand why someone would want to do this to us before we did anything hasty. As you can imagine, my class was a little taken aback. I was too naive to expect such a reaction from them, and the rejection I felt by my peers (although, as far as I know, none of them meant to personally degrade me, even if it felt like that) that day in 10th grade will never leave me.

I'm just saying. Not all of those who were very close to what happened on 9/11 and who fiercly love their country believe in this Good VERSUS Evil approach, and I promise you, I have yet to forget 9/11, and I doubt I ever will.

  6. terrible_machine : There was an Israel State before 1948. Read the Bible. Palistine referes to a region, like we refere to Mesopotamia, which is Isreal, southern Lebenon, southwestern Syira, western Jordan, and northern Sinai Desert. Isreal controlled this area hundreds of years before Christ. Hamas set out in its written Decliration of State that will iradicate Isreal from Earth. I am also assuming that you belive that the world is flat (the majority of the world during the time of Columbus belived that the world was round, not flat, but there a small minority that thought it was flat and they did all they could to convince the rest).

jasmine : Move to Isreal and live in the houses that Hamas bombed, the markets there suicide bombers attacked, the buses they set with explosives. Hamas has a track record for hiding behind civilians and holding there familys hostage. Who is more inhumane ?

    • (0 Kudos received)
    1. @user86067
Hmmm..no. The world is not flat, neither is it round, for that matter. But this has to do with space-time distortion caused by earth's mass and its relation with the space around it.
With regards to reading the bible, well there is the old testament and the new testament.
These are documents known to be thousands of years old, written by men writing the word of God, not written by God....but this is where your opinion loses its worth: It is based on religious dogma, lies, half-truths, etc.
Much like the man who recently duped Opra with a love story that he pawned off as fact, not fiction, because his mother came to him in a dream and told him to do so. So he lied, and very convincingly to everyone who watched him on TV. See points 1-6 of my original comment as they apply here as well.
Going back to the issue of Palestine and Israel having been promised to the Jewish People by God....I mean, the world is supposed to believe this? Jews, christians, hindus, and all other religions?? Kinda selfish, wouldn't you say?
I recognize that atrocities may be presently being done by both sides...but who threw the first stone? Neither you or I can know or be able to say.

As I stated earlier, area Jews and Arabs probably only have an imprint of what their fathers, grandfathers have been involved in (since 1948 or so) and know nothing else. Arab and Jew conflict before 1948 may stretch for thousands of years...but of what use is knowing this?
It is dangerous to think differently and have an opinion such as mine.
Fortunately, as an American Jew, my father tought us that the only thing the world owed us was nothing.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    2. @terrible_machine
I see some contradiction in your text and I'll point some of it out to you....
Who are you to decide what is truth or half truth?
You suggest that religious dogma distorts truth, yet your "manmade" list shows no enlightenment and in fact, represents your own personal dogma.
If you claim that you and everyone else is unaware of who "threw the first stone", pray tell, what awareness do you possess that entitles you to arbitrarliy decide what content in either the new or old testament is factual or not?
Also be advised that if we cannot determine historical "fact" through trials, text and experience, we must rely on the situation present day and stop resorting to the "whys" and remain focused on the "hows".
      Your "list" is a strawman....and here's why...
      1) "Make up a story" ---
It's easy to insist that a story is fabricated, but you've already admitted you have no evidence to prove whether it's real or imagined.

      2) "Control information" ----
This example is so vague that it's rendered useless.
Information can be "controlled by either party, so what's your point?

      3) "Convince others and yourself that your story is the truth"---See above

      4) "Invade a country based on 1-3 above" ---
Invasion with a purpose cannot be construed any differently than continual bombardment with a purpose.
Read the article. Israel seeks to end the bombardments by Hamas through retaliation. DUH.

      5) "Justify anything that you do from there on" ---
Most sovereign nations feel totally justified in retaliating against neighbors slinging bombs at them.
Those who feel there is no justification in Israeli reaction are entitled to their opinion...but their opinion doesn't necessitate fact just because they have spun a list full of holes and contradictions.

      6) "Make the rest of the world pay for 1 above"---
The rest of the world? Hardly. The terrorists in Gaza have embedded themselves into a civilian population that elected them. They are the ones paying the price and rightly so, IMO.
The rest of the world is either supporting Israel's sovereign status as a nation or they are holding up pictures of bloodied Arab children to spin Israel in the worst possible light.
Maybe the news media will start showing some pictures of affected Israeli's over the last few decades and sprinkle in a few dead terrorists to boot to give a more objective slant on the reality instead of one-sided spin.

Until you have experienced it you have absolutely no clue as to what you are blathering about. Read the Bible? Yeah, lets bring more religion into this. We have an object lesson going on right now that shows how productive that is.

  7. Hamas and the People of Palestine are not as innocent as they want people to make them out to be. Look at history in that area, Palestine has been ran by terrorist organizations and will never show any signs of peace. Even the PLO led by Arafat knew they could never defeat Israel, Wish Hamas would learn that lesson.

  8. I think the leaders of both sides should be brought to justice. The palestinian as well as the Israelis. Do they think for a moment that this is what Gods plan was. How stupid. They should value life and understand that we the human race are here temporarely and all the lands stay but we will be gone. As history has shown us at the rate things are going. All the lands will be used by other people. Maybe totally different people. 1000 years from now we may have been taken over by the martians. So guys get smart and stop this stupidity. These actions only tell God how stupid we are as a race.

I dont care what all the biast people have to say about this subject. Isreal is only a country because of the muscle the U.S. provided. They stole land and kicked the Arabs out because they felt is was right to reclaim the real estate after numerous centuries of abandonment.

I dont see any good in their occupation of that land. They should resettle in Northern Alaska so their citizens and the rest of the world can live in peace. Stop the abuse of the palastinians....This puerto rican feels ur pain and praying for a peaceful resolution that favors Palestine.Defend urself and dont kill kids.

    1. @Ralvarez.ct ...right, "eye for an eye only?" Give me a break! Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel for over 10 years now, and they are becoming increasingly dangerous. Is Israel supposed to wait for a rocket to kill 50 people? 100? 500? What is the magic number before Israel is "permitted" to respond to these random and constant attacks? The sad fact of the matter is that terroist states like Syria and Iran continue to supply weapons to Hamas -- not because they support Hamas -- but because they support chaos and instability in the region for their own selfish reasons! Hamas is being used......

  14. Palestinians Storm Gaza-Egypt Border Attempting to Flee Bombing
Monday December 29, 2008 21:21 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC News

As ongoing Israeli airstrikes mount the Palestinian death toll to 325 in just three days, hundreds of Palestinians tried to flee from Gaza to Egypt on Monday morning by storming the closed border crossing en masse.

    Rafah crossing

Local sources reported that several hundred Palestinians managed to overwhelm the Egyptian security forces stationed at the border crossing, and were able to cross over into Egypt.

Egyptian authorities have supported the Israeli siege on Gaza, and the starvation of the Palestinian people over the last two years, and continue to refuse to open the border between Gaza and Egypt (the only way out of Gaza other than border crossings with Israel).

According to one Egyptian paramedic, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Egyptian authorities said they would allow 20 injured Palestinians into Egypt for treatment at el-Arish hospital in the Sinai.

Palestinian sources say this 'offer' is an insult, as over 1400 Palestinians lie wounded in Palestinian hospitals, unable to get treatment due to the lack of medical supplies.

The Israeli siege has prevented the import of medicines and medical supplies into Gaza for the last two years, leaving all of Gaza's hospitals unprepared to deal with the number of casualties pouring in over the last two days.

Palestine can't blame Israel for this one, this Is Egypt not opening the border. Sounds to me that Hamas needs to make friends not Violence.

Stop firing rockets, recognize Israel's right to exist, get your own country as Barak and Clinton offered and live in peace. The Arabs have lied and distoted the truth for 60 years. What the heck is your problem. I've dated Jewish people for goodness sakes. I know former members of the Israeli army. Stop being ignorant.

    7. @katharinec Jews really can't afford to be racist. They know all too well what that tastes like.

Have no idea where you are from... I'm from the Los Angeles area, grew up with wasp, black, jewish, arab, mexican, and other races from childhood. I think most people in the united states who I have come across (other than wasps - to my own embarassment), are not racist.

We in the US have no idea how deeply devided areas like palestine are, based on race, tribe, and religion. Unfortunately for both parties in this conflict, there is no guiding principle, no common belief, and therefore, no understanding of each other. It really comes down to who has the bigger guns. In that regard, Israel could wipe a number of it's neighbors off the map in a matter of days if they really wanted to.

The palestinians have, in the bigger scheme of things, witnessed much more tolerance than they can possibly understand.

This is how Israel was formed. hundreds of thousands of palestinians were thrown out of their homes into refugee camps and their houses demolished. Whatever the history in the books is. This is the reason the starving and unfortunate palestinians have no other choice, this brings in the hatred. This is happening even now with the expansion of settlements. houses are still being destroyed by force and jewish settlements are being made.

    1. @user53798 So what is your solution to this matter? Divide the area in Half each side getting one half? Even if you can figure out a way to do this, you will still have people saying that the other people are on their land etc. There will always be people who disagree and may still try to take the other side out etc as well. I would love to see a peaceful agreement over there. Take North and South Korea, They are not the best of buds but they live side by side. Both sides can argue back and forth at eachother on how each side violated this or did that, but that will not solve anything.

  25. It's amazing the intensity, knowledge, facts and so on this subject arises in people. How unfortunate that people of such intelligence and wisdom do not lead the masses or even the few with passion left from all these decades of fighting. Why are there no new leaders that have the ability to make change in the region? Sad that the ones that hate no matter what you are a Jew and Arab or whatever are the ones that dictate the fate of many that have the ability to love and forgive and coincide in peace.

With all the wisdom and knowledge can we never come united as the good to overcome the evil that lives in the extreme terrorists that cause destruction for so many innocent people? We are all part of the worlds correction no matter what side you are on, how much education you have or if you believe or not that G-D exists beyond all of this. Will each one that reads this take upon themselves to see how they can contribute for the elimination of hate in our coexistence. It must be B"H.

  31. Christians and Jews have nothing in common. If we asked any honest religious Jew what he thinks about Jesus. The shocking answer would be he is nothing but a bastard and his mother, Mary, is nothing but a @!$%#. Who killed Jesus? Ask the Catholics. They will tell it is the Jews. On the other hand if we asked any honest religious Christian what he think about a Jew who died and refuse to take Jesus as a savior. The shocking answer would be he lost and he is in eternal hellfire. Then why do we see Christians defend Jews? Christians, I am afraid, are Brain-washed. The bible in the Christian hands was written by a Jew! Christians are very eager to see Jesus come back and before this happen they must bless the state of Israel and give Jews the Promised Land….What a terrible misconception. She was armed with nothing but megaphone; she stood in front of sixty ton Jewish bulldozer to defend a Palestinian home from being demolished. She did not move and her tiny bones were crushed by American made bulldozer. Her flesh and blood were mixed with gazan soil. Our Zionist government did not do anything. Not even simple investigation. Rachael is a Christian girl from a Christian parent. My fellow Christians you don’t have the courage to defend your fellow Christian American. How I expect you to support or defend the others. 37. Thousands of times Hamas has launched rockets against Israel without provocation. Time and time again Israel has shown restraint and sought ceasefires and peace.

If Mexico for years would sporadically just volley rockets into the U.S. striking schools, parks and shopping centers. We as Americans just site idly by and not do much of anything. Just seeking Peace and hoping for the best as the U.N. urges it we twiddle our thumbs.

NO we in the U.S. would demand we strike back hard and swift. That we take out whomever is doing this.

Example, Dec 7th 1941, Sept. 11 2001. We would rise up as a nation should.

This is overdo, Hamas needs to be dealt with and made to pay for there actions. This is not a religious difference it is a matter of protecting one countries citizens.

I have Muslim friends and Christian friends. This is a matter of people using fear and religion to seperate us. When it is ment to bring us together.

  38. The best weapon against terrorism is justice, food, education and freedom for everybody; not WAR... The palestinian people do not consider Hamas as terrorists but as resistance: do not forget that Israel is a young state that displaced millions of palestinians from their homeland.

    Further....

"Those who giddily support not just civilian deaths in Gaza but every actual and proposed attack on Arab/Muslim countries -- from the war in Iraq to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon to the proposed attacks on Iran and Syria and even continued escalation in Afghanistan -- are able to do so because they don't really see the Muslims they want to kill as being fully human. For obvious reasons, one typically finds this full-scale version of sociopathic indifference -- this perception of brutal war as a blood-pumping and exciting instrument for feeling vicarious sensations of power and strength from a safe distance -- in the society's weakest, most frightened, and most insecure individuals.

If you see Palestinians as something less than civilized human beings: as "barbarians" -- just as if you see Americans as infidels warring with God or Jews as sub-human rats -- then it naturally follows that civilian deaths are irrelevant, perhaps even something to cheer. For people who think that way, arguments about "proportionality" won't even begin to resonate -- such concepts can't even be understood -- because the core premise, that excessive civilian deaths are horrible and should be avoided at all costs, isn't accepted. Why should a superior, civilized, peaceful society allow the welfare of violent, hateful barbarians to interfere with its objectives? How can the deaths or suffering of thousands of barbarians ever be weighed against the death of even a single civilized person?"

Hi Skeptik: Happy New Year to you too!

Israel needs to compromise and kill with kindness instead...they have the advantage in every way: more land (they have no legal deed to but act as if they do), more money, more weaponry and the unconditional support of the US which ultimately puts us in danger of further terrorism. They instigated the conflict on Nov. 5th by breaking the ceasefire. They are inflaming more hatred towards themselves by the WAY they have attacked Gaza. It's mass murder plain and simple. The land should be divided equally in half and the holy sites allocated as public space. This would solve so much and would greatly reduce the hatred the Arab world has for the Jews. Too bad this will never happen. I guarantee you if it did happen...1/2 our problems with the Middle East would be gone and Israel would survive. I am not so sure it will now....

      • (0 Kudos received)
    5. @VioletPlanet Under what circumstances were the Palestinians displaced? Was it not a transaction between an Arab leader and the UN and new state representatives?

      How many were displaced?

Are the children of the displaced who were born in nations other than the former Palestinian tribal territory not the citizens of the land of their birth?

It can surely be argued that Jews may have no more valid historical claim to the land than the Palestinians. It may be that both can argue a claim to the land as their homeland.

This argument returns to the notion that the disputed land belongs to the people of the world, all of which have some stake in the land.

Given this argument, why are we not all fighting over our original homeland, Ethiopia?

      • (0 Kudos received)
    6. @jim.george

Because Ethiopians don't control our banks, media, and other multi-conglomerate corporations which ultimately control our government, that's why

      RE: Displaced:

Israel continues to occupy and expand its settlements on Palestinian land and to control and severely restrict many key aspects of Gazan life). No thought is given to what it is like, what emotions it generates, what horrible acts start to appear justifiable, when you have a hostile foreign army control your borders and airspace and internal affairs for 40 years, one which builds walls around you, imposes the most intensely humiliating conditions on your daily life, blockades your land so that you're barred from exiting and prevented from accessing basic nutrition and medical needs for your children to the point where a substantial portion of the underage population suffers from stunted growth.
So extreme is their emotional identification with one side (Israel) that it literally never occurs to them to give any thought to any of that, to imagine what it's like to live in those circumstances

Ethnic Cleansing is a crime and those who perpetrate it are criminals. In 1948, the leadership of the Zionist movement, which became the government of Israel, committed a crime against the Palestinian people. The crime was Ethnic Cleansing. This is not a casual term but an indictment with far reaching political, legal and moral implications. The meaning of this term was clarified in the aftermath of the 1990s' civil war in the Balkans. Any action by one ethnic group meant to drive out another ethnic group with the purpose of transforming a mixed ethnic region into a pure one is Ethnic Cleansing. An action can become Ethnic Cleansing regardless of the means employed. Every means, from persuasion and threats to expulsions and mass killings, justifies the attribution of the term to such policies. The act itself qualifies the categorization of the act: therefore, certain policies are regarded as Ethnic Cleansing by the international community even when a master plan for their execution is not found or exposed. Consequently, the victims of Ethnic Cleansing are both people who left out of fear and those expelled forcefully as part on an on-going operation. The above definitions and references can be found in the American State Department and United Nations websites. These are the principal definitions that guided the International Court in The Hague when it was setup to try those responsible for planning and executing the Ethnic Cleansing operations as people guilty of perpetrating crimes against humanity.

In Plan Dalet, adopted in March 1948 by the high command of the Hagana (the main Jewish underground in the pre-state days), the Israeli objective of 1948 is clear. The goal was to take over as much as possible of the territory of Mandatory Palestine and remove most of the Palestinian villages and urban neighborhoods from the coveted territory which would constitute the future Jewish State. The execution was even more systematic and comprehensive than the plan anticipated. In a matter of seven months, 531 villages were destroyed and 11 urban neighborhoods emptied. The mass expulsion was accompanied by massacres, rape and imprisonment of men (defined as males a bove the age often) in labor camps for periods over a year. All these characteristics in the year of 2006 can be only attributed to Ethnic Cleansing policy; namely a policy that, according to the UN definition, aims at transforming a mixed ethnic area into a pure ethnic space, where all means are justified. Such a policy is defined under international law as a crime against humanity which the US State Department believes can only be rectified by the repatriation of all the people who left or were expelled as a result of the ethnic cleansing operations.

The lesson: you can, as a state, expel half of Palestine’s population, destroy half of its villages and get away with it without a scratch or criticism. The consequences of such a lesson were inevitable: the continuation of the Ethnic Cleansing policies by other means. There are well-known landmarks in this process, for instance, the expulsion of tens of villages between 1948 and 1956 from Israel proper, the forced transfer of 300,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and a very measured, but constant, cleansing from the Greater Jerusalem area.

As long as the political lesson is not learned, there will be no solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The issue of the refugees will repeatedly fail any attempt, successful as it may be in any other parameters, to reconcile the two conflicting parties. This is why it is so important to recognize the 1948 events as an Ethnic Cleansing operation, so as to ensure that a political solution will not evade the root of the conflict, namely, the expulsion of the Palestinians. Such evasions in the past are the main reasons for the collapse of all the previous peace accords.

I accept the gravity of the human situation. I am empathetic to the Palestinian people as I am for the Israelis. Terrorism is unacceptable no matter what the circumstance and I do not accept calling it "resistance." I agree with you that annihilation of a people is unacceptable, though I believe that annihilating the Hamas terrorists is a consequence of their action and an outcome of their own behavior.

My point is violence begets violence. Israel is just as guilty as Hamas and visa versa. Very few Pro-Israel people will admit that fact....my disdain for Israel at this time solely rests on 2 points:

      1. Overkill thus violating international law (rule of proportionality)
      2. Sense of entitlement and the fact that they cannot see what they are doing is no different than what Hamas is doing or any other so-called Terrorist organization...

    9. @VioletPlanet I've heard that idea a number of times, but what I haven't seen is any evidence that Hamas, Hezbolah, or any other militant Islamic group is interested in such a truce.

In the meantime, as long as hamas and others are going to continue lobing bombs at Israel, they can expect that the place where they are doing that is going to get attacked.

The Prime Minister said it yesterday... something to the effect that "Hamas has been for years attacking Israel at will, and Israel has restrained itself; no longer".

I think Jim.george's points about the history, i.e., british held land, and how it traded hands in '48 is really the key here. At the end of WWII, the land was essencially up for grabs (in the sense that the UN partitioned it and gave part to Israel) and Israel claimed independance, fought for and won it, and now, 60 years later, we aren't going to reverse that. Period.

IMHO, every case in which Israel has "invaded" spaces outside of thier borders in my lifetime has been in essence, a protective reaction to violence against them. So while on the surface, ya, they look like the big bad guy in the region, I'M SICK AND TIRED OF WATCHING THESE CHILDLIKE ISLAMIC MILITANTS HARASSING ISRAEL, AND THEN CRYING BULLY!

    11. @VioletPlanet there is no law that states overkill, whether you fight with a spear or fight with nuclear weapons war is war, Show me the International law that states overkill or proportionality. Just because it is so one sided and Hamas is getting their butt kicks you can't say they broke international law. Some person kicks you does that mean you can only kick them back? HECK NO I will do a heck of alot more than that, Self Defense is not a crime.

    12. @VioletPlanet Kill with kindness??? SO when Palestine shoots a rocket at Israel they are supposed to just smile and do nothing? Or when they blow up busses with suicide bombers the same thing be kind??? You keep bringing up 1 Cease Fire, when Palestine has broken several as well. Lets say you don't like your neighbor, and they have far better fighting skills, weapons money etc, are you going to attack them? I would hope not. So don't keep claiming MONEY, Weapons, NOV 5th, as your only defense. HAMAS GETS MONEY, WEAPONS, Smuggled in thru EGYPT. So why are they still losing???????

      • (0 Kudos received)
    13. @jim.george YES Hamas has brought them on themselves. Trying to make it sound like only NON HAMAS people are killed in order to make Israel out to be the bad GUYS.

    14. @NICKinSD

look it up... yourself. its also been all over CNN, MSNBC etc.... International law experts are talking about it.

    15. @NICKinSD

Could you be just a little more dense? My point is that this VIOLENCE is not changing anything....maybe if ISRAEL WHO HAS ALL THE ADVANTAGES IN EVERYWAY INCLUDING MOST OF THE LAND should try a new tactic and then maybe the attacks on Israel will STOP.... kill them with kindness.... divide the land in half...This is what Palestine wants....equal shares of the land, equal access to the holy sites! Christ! Man....please use your head....

The above solution has never been attempted.... If Israel were to do something like this and THEN Hamas committed terrorist acts.... I would eat my words and agree with all of you 200 percent.... UNTIL something like this is attempted no amount of arguing will convince me that what I am saying is out of line, wrong or unjust.

See my comments to NickSD above Jim George's last post...below....

Read the history of 1948 above....on Palestinian displacement. ;) Both sides are wrong.... Both sides Both sides....and Israel has always had the advantage....

      Correct

    18. @VioletPlanet Well Go to Israel and Palestine and tell them your plan See If it WORKS LOL

      • (0 Kudos received)
    19. @VioletPlanet if what you are saying was true, I'd be supporting it 100%... namely, deviding the land and holy sites and everyone is happy.

That is NOT what Hamas and others who are harrasing Israel left and right want - they want Israel (and Christians) outa there 100%, so your idea really has no teeth. I'm sorry... it just doesn't work that way.

I believe solutions like this HAVE been attempted.

Now, having said that, my personal opinion is that there is a mindset in Israel, set in from the Hitler experience that says... never again. We will survive, we will not give in, we will have our land. I think we can all understand that, and we can probably all agree that said mindset does in fact cause some problems. But ultimately, here we are in 2009... it's way too late in the game for all of these militant muslims to expect the world to revert back to 1400. They MUST give up that dream, else we are going to continue to see this hideous battle for all of our days.

I personally put more of the blame on hamas and thier jihadist brothers here, because historically they are low-balling, deal breaking, back stabbing people who don't play by anyone's rules. And the fact that they don't keep their operations separate from civilians is deplorable to me. That is perhaps the most obnoxious aspect to their entire shtick... hide amongst women and children and then parade the dead bodies to the entire world for sympathy. They really do need to be put down.

      • (0 Kudos received)
    20. @Skeptik

My idea has not been attempted to the degree that I am suggesting it be implemented. It most definitely has not. Some extremist muslims want both the Christians and the Jews out but NOT ALL. You are lumping the extremists with the middle-ground to more accepting/progressive Muslims. Not all Muslims want Israel blown off the face of the map. This is such a blatantly false and bigoted statement, I can't even articulate how wrong it is...

I am emotionally involved in this issue . I am not Anti-Israel nor am I Pro-Palestine. I side with the side of least advantage. If anything I am more Anti-US Government than anything else. I am siding with Palestine because they are clearly the underdog here in many ways. I do believe they have more rights to the land etc. Israel is an amazing nation with amazing people, culture and a profound history.. However, it is clear this ENDLESS conflict has brought no one anywhere but dead and down. The violence WILL never win. violence begets violence.. This has been proven over and over again . Maybe not right away...but always and eventually. It comes back to haunt the so-called victor.

What is the difference between Israel's multimillion dollar air raids/hi-tech bombs and a suicide bomber? NOTHING.. They all achieve the same goal.

There is so much hate between these 2 tribes that neither side considers the other HUMAN. This is sickness beyond sickness... It is just plain evil and inhumane.

So we now know this... endless killing has not worked and will never work ..so why not try a new RADICAL approach? Not all Arabs are terrorists or extremists. Yes there will still be extremists on both sides and yes there may be disputes but not nearly as devastating to both tribes as they are now. A radical new approach must be implemented. What do both tribes want? Land and freedom to worship and prosper.

As I stated previously, both tribes lived in harmony for some time during the 14th Century... Why?

They did it once, they can do it again...... Peace is possible.. Since Israel has the advantage in every way they must kill with kindness instead of bombs. Real kindness is giving more than they may desire to...equal shares. If this tactic were not to work, then I would agree with you ALL whole heartedly and eat my words..... The sad thing is this won't even be attempted and its tragic to me that Israel will not rise above the killing.

  39. How far back in time must we go to determine legitimacy? Which is more relevant, ancient history or modern history? Levant, c. 830 BC: Kingdom of Judah, Kingdom of Israel, Philistine city-states, Phoenician states, Kingdom of Ammon, Kingdom of Edom, Kingdom of Aram-Damascus Aramean tribes, Arubu tribes, Nabatu tribes, Assyrian Empire, Kingdom of Moab

Then, of course there is a massive amount of history in between until the present peirod beginning in 1948.

"Soon after World War II, the British decided to leave Palestine. The United Nations attempted to solve the dispute by establishing the Arab state of Jordan (without Jews) and by putting forward the 1947 UN Partition Plan, which further divided the remaining land area between the Arab and Jewish populations. On November 29, 1947, the Jewish Agency, including the Palestinian Jews, accepted the plan, while the Arab states rejected it in protest of the establishment of any independent homeland for Jewish residents of the Middle East. On May 14, 1948, the Jewish population declared independence as the State of Israel. The armies of Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria declared war on the newly formed state of Israel(which was heavily armed and supported by the British), invaded, but did not succeed. (For a more detailed account, see 1948 Arab-Israeli War). During the fighting, additional Arabs fled and in some locations were expelled. This has led to one of the largest refugee population in the world."

      and don't forget:

Canaan before the Hebrews - Canaan had been a collection of city-states, tributary to the Egyptian Pharoah, as attested to in the Tel- El Amarna tablets. The breakup of the Egyptian empire beginning about 1500 BCE made possible the INVASION of the HEBREWS.

The Canaanites, a people who absorbed and assimilated the features of many cultures of the ancient Near East for at least 500 years before the Israelites entered their area of control,

  41. "Ending U.S. diplomatic and military support for Israel would be a major step in the right direction, and will be crucial for bringing down the Israeli apartheid regime, ending the occupation, and one day holding Israel's leaders accountable for their crimes. In August 2007, the U.S. and Israel signed an agreement to increase arms transfers to Israel to $30 billion over the next decade. Although this deal is in blatant violation of the U.S. Arms Export Control Act, which stipulates that countries purchasing or receiving U.S. weapons cannot use them against civilians, President-Elect Obama has pledged to implement this agreement without any conditions. This policy of unconditional U.S. support for Israel must change. Indeed, Israel could not maintain its illegal 41-year military occupation and siege of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip without U.S. diplomatic and military support.

We urgently need to build an international social movement calling for sanctions, boycott, and divestment from Israel and the U.S. corporations that profit from Israeli apartheid. It should be modeled on the movement that brought down the racist South African apartheid government. For more information on ways to take action, check out the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation (www.endtheoccupation.org). - Albert 77 on Mixx"
