Your skin tans in order to protect itself from more skin damage! The sunshine makes people feel good, but the cost of a bronzed body is become steeper and the idea of the healthy tan is slowly evaporating.

  1. Oh, for Heaven's sake. Can all the helmet wearing, lysol spraying, fear mongers make us feel any worse? Scientific data also exists that proves that a moderate amount of sun exposure (read 30 minutes or less) is essential for Vitamin D production, cures or reduces the sympoms of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and keeps the outer layers of the skin free of enterprising fungi. Let's get real here, basting and rolling yourself like a hotdog on a grill on a consistent basis is bad, spending moderate amounts of time in the sun with a decent sunblock (15-30SPF) is fine. IF you have ever had skin cancer, opt for airbrush tanning.

  2. @empresshara I understand where you are coming from. But some people don't tan in moderation. They don't understand the repercussions of spending hours on end tanning. As the title says, this post looks at "excessive" tanning.
