  GM says by the end of 2010, half of its major global manufacturing operations will be land-fill free. The facilities plan to achieve that landfill-free status when all production waste or garbage is recycled or reused.

  So we're all getting pretty darned familiar with the arguments for and against biofuels. But what about bioplastics? Since we can, theoretically, do anything with corn that we can do with petroleum, wouldn't it be better to do it with corn?

  Called Geos, the 25-acre area will have 250 homes from smaller 850 square feet to mansion-sized 3,500 square feet placed in four neighborhoods. While thats a whole lot of houses, theyll be keeping a whopping 40% of the area as green space.

  By concentrating sunlight more than 1,000 times, the system makes electricity cheaper than traditional PV systems. It is self-powered and doesnt need to penetrate the roof for installation.

  The solar case can provide enough charge for functional use in less than 3 hours, but it will take a full 10 hours to fill the battery. Maybe the thing to do is leave the case on the dashboard or window sill all day, then charge your phone up at night.
