This boy was from my home town... so it strikes it close to the heart for me. For those of you who know any Australians personally, you would know, that when any of our heroes die, to us, it's like losing a mate, a friend...

Some cynics might say, "oh but he's just a celebrity". Might be true in the case of Anna Nicole Smith from the viewpoint of an American. But in the case of someone like Heath Ledger or Steve Irwin - these are guys we looked up to because they WORKED THEIR ASSES OFF to get to where they were at.

You know man, now I'm torn, I really want Dark Knight to be unbelievable, which it will. I'm so waiting to see him play the joker, but on the other hand, I don't want him to be great b/c I'll hate that he'll never be in another one again.

Whether in this life or the next, Ledger was BORN to play that role. Sure, some of us had some doubts, but once that trailer came out, it was very clear that he was the inevitable choice for the part. He will do it justice. The screenings of that film will be an eerie, saddening, yet awesome experience. He was a master craftsman of his art, always striving to better himself. His role in The Dark Knight will be his crowning achievement IMHO.

Dark Knight is in post-production. Basically they'll have to work with any shots they have with him. No re-shoots.

I keep thinking of his 2-year-old daughter with Michelle Williams. What a devastating day for them. I've been a fan of Heath's since he played Patrick Verona in the teen flick '10 Things I Hate About You' (which was a high school version of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew) ... he will definitely be missed by many.
