  1. After having tried both Mixx and Digg, I would have to say that Mixx is the better of the two. I will continue to post on both however on Digg it will be more of a novelty than serious.

  2. Yeah, I do notice that sometimes its very tough to use Digg.

  3. Mixx is better....any questions?

  4. Nothing personal, hdar - I voted this down because I disagree with the position the author takes - especially with regards to the top diggers. Those guys contribute significantly, both the Digg community - as well as others: Mixx, Stumble, Propeller... I really disagree that their concerns were absurd.

  5. Lately Diggs been in disarray with threats of upheavel more often that not. Mixx is much calmer.

  6. Honestly... I think Digg shot themselves in the foot with their re-design several months back. I much prefered the previous interface and actually stopped using Digg for awhile, only recently have I begun submitting once again at Digg. Algorithms and probability rates of making the front page be damned... If the interface itself is cumbersome and not user friendly and intuitive I'm gone...

  7. I don't think that the concerns were necessarily absurd, but i do think it is essential for new users to have a fighting chance to submit and not have to spam at the same time. I hate the shout feature, and would much rather the content I submit be dugg for it's quality.

  8. It takes too long to submit articles on Digg now...

  9. I gotta go with cGt2099 on this. His stance on the Top Diggers is all wrong. I love your stuff hdar but I do not agree with this guy.

  10. Damnit Andy..here I am defending you and you voted this up! (MrBabyMan)

I don't have a horse in this race, but my very first impression of Digg, was that of a "teenage Gang Bang." My opinion has never changed. My first impression of Mixx was, and still is, a site that is objective, informative, and diverse, which fairly reflects the views and preferences of its community.

  12. I stopped submitting to digg months ago because of the old-boy network and see no reason to get excited about this. I don't believe in "virtual property" or the vanity behind the "it was me that submitted it" so you have to digg it up or I won't digg your's culture.

  13. @DerivativeRe
Right - and the people I am specifically referring to are in the minority. They're the top diggers submitting great stuff. I'm not talking about the asshats in the comments sections

I understand you voting this down. But I feel everyones opinion should be heard through all of this. I support the top Diggers 100% and absolutely disagree with the new algo. However the author of this story does have some points of view that I do agree with. FTA, Digg is a user-generated content website and Digg must be open to hearing the concerns of those who helped make Digg what it is today.

    Gotcha.

  16. I voted this up not because I agree with his stance on the top diggers, I disagree with him there, but because he brings up issue of creating an algo that is fair. I don't think he takes it anywhere near far enough, but I think he is asking the right questions.

  17. I came to Mixx about a week ago after getting fed up with Digg. I like the news on the site, and still check it daily, but I find many of the comments to be way to immature or anti-<insert government, company, etc.> here.

I find Mixx to be better in this aspect, and a bit more tailored to what I'm looking for in a social site.

  18. @bulio
Welcome to Mixx, I think you will like it here.

  19. Digg may have all these problems, but at least it actually has a threaded comment system :) Shame on mix !

  20. Dig needs to resolve the Bury issue (or issues, there are many) as the site has become a Troll's Paradise. Just as there are those Diggers who do nothing but comment, there are others who do nothing but bury. At least the commenters are known. Bury-ers get away with murder - well, with murdering posts they don't like. Shoutwire's system is a big improvement in that both up and down votes are displayed. Mixx? The jury's still out...
