  1. I'm trying to think of a way to post something that violates all the rules at once. I'll have to mull it over for a while, but I feel equal to the task.

I think it goes without saying that I'm joking.

    Maybe.

  2. Oh, it would be remiss of me, in the midst of my smart-assery, to forget to say this; It's a great article and well thought out list of rules. They would do well to adopt them or a modified version of them for the site.

Post anything from 4chan. That will violate everything. Even your mind

    4chan, you say? Hmmmm......

  5. Great and well thought out. I will do my best to adhere to it.

Just remember, once you go in there, your mind and your eyesight will never be the same again. You think Friday Fests can be bad? That's a bunch of PlaySkool toys compared to 4chan.

Oh, I wasn't seriously planning to go there, my friend. No worries. I'm still recovering from my one glance at goatse several years ago.

  8. Another user complained to me of this problem and I wholeheartedly agreed with him.

Don't submit irrelevant content into a topic based group. If I'm part of "Writing for Writers," I don't want to see articles about business cards. Go spam somewhere else.

Thank you, you just reminded me about 2 other things I need to add.

Your welcome. I seriously wish Social Media sites would actively consider enforcing a "code of honor" among its users. As of right now, the only site I know that does that is Newsvine. I'm sure a few others do as well.

Well that's were the inspiration of the Code of Honor came from. I love the Code of Honor becuase it gives another layer of enforcements outside of the TOS (which no one reads).

For the last couple of months have stated I think Mixx should adopt one.

  13. off-topic posts are what gets me quiting a group the quickest. it really is sad. you see this potentially great group, but the admin just does not enforce any sort of rules on submissions, and it becomes a haven for all sorts of junk. so i hardly join any groups anymore.

It depends on what you're refering to. Some thing people will let slide, like submitting dupes. A lot of people have done that without knowing it, so it's not a cardinal sin or anything. Same thing with blind voting, I don't know if anyone here hasn't done that.

The basic idea, I think, is try to do the best you can and don't be an asshole.

I'm not sure what you find intimidating about it. If you look at Newsvine's CoH, which this one was inspired by, they a little stricter in some areas.

    "family-friendly and bland environment"

How is it bland? Its really an extension or rather a distillation of the Mixx ToS, http://www.mixx.com/terms. Family-friendly <> Bland. Mixx isn't trying to be family-friendly so much as its trying to keep things at a cordial level unlike some other sites.

"Will I be an outcast if I don't follow this?"

No, but again that depends on how you actually intend to behave on Mixx. If its against this CoH, then its possible its against the TOS.

  17. I agree with most of your "code" and over the last few days I've been more discerning about the stories I vote on. Mixx is a great place with a lot of good people. We should be an example for other media sites and have a set of ethics that we follow.

Well this, by no means, is to be taken as the end all be all of Mixx-etiquette. I just wanted to try to get the ball rolling on it to see the type of response and reception it would get. I do hope that Mixx does decided to add another, more human, layer to their TOS.
