  • Totally agree with the article. As the "Web 1.0" version of social media, forums are the still the largest online communities for many niches. That makes them a potentially very powerful marketing channels for online businesses.

This article is a great introduction to an article I wrote a few weeks ago:

12 Keys to Successful Forum Marketing

  • How important is acting on the creative spark? What is the origination of inspiration for you?

  • It is frustrating when you think that technology should be on the same page as you are, but isn’t. You know like fifteen years ago you would have waited three minutes to just view a page on your 60 pound home computer. Now you are mad if your cell phone takes longer then a few seconds to load full web page. But today, although we keep moving forward in computer and web development we stand still in the job search industry. Sites boast their ability to move beyond the resume and into the next era, yet when you log onto their site you are taken through the same process, but with a new and exciting color. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the second quarter of 2008 there were 299,886 people laid off from their jobs. This number doesn’t include people that are currently without jobs and looking for work. So why in the world isn’t their anyone making these connections and bring qualified people to real jobs.
In the past I have had my own frustrations of not being able to find work and having been in a situation where finding good employment was critical, I have come up with the top three things that need to change in the current online job services market:
    1. Get rid of the clutter
    2. Help make real connections
    3. Don’t claim new resume process when it is not

Getting rid of the clutter is one of the most important actions job networks should take to keep and attract potential employees and employers. It is hard to find what you are looking for if it feels like a Where’s Waldo book.
Helping people make real personal connections is something that lacks on sites looking for candidates. Job search companies are trying to sift through thousands of plain-text resumes and are not able to really get to know the potential employee.
The last thing is to not use smoke and mirrors on process that is out dated and desperately in need of a makeover. If you want to make a change you have to do something different.
So from all this we come to one simple conclusion; the online job search industry is broke and needs some major repair. Goegghead solutions will address and fix many of the major industry problems using a combination of new and existing technology that is already very successful in other industries. Just like the frustration that comes from slow uploading computer data, with your help we are creating the answer that will finally get this industry up to speed.

  • Does Yahoo lack of direction or strong authoritative owners with clear vision like Gates, Jobs, Elliot, Page, Brin, and of course: D.Trump:) ?

  • I just wanted to start Yahoo Buzzing, but after reading this comprehensive article I changed my mind...thanks!

  • @soniya_shrma40 yes, what part of it did you like?

  • Great post. Left a comment on your blog. Ben Franklin also kept a personal diary or journal, one precursor to blogging, although most people don't share their private journals with anyone. Poor Richard's Almanac is the closest thing to a blog one can get without a computer!

  • Apples and oranges.

  • So, what do you guys think? :)

  • Yahoo has the brand, ergo this has a strong backbone, bottom line. Unlike the other social networking operations that focus only on what they are doing, Yahoo can fall back and forth on anything within their network. If the Buzz never really buzzes, it just goes in the sidebar with the rest...
