I'm a writer from Lawrence, Kansas (home of Kansas University), doing fairly well despite a few obstacles, enjoying life with my lovely wife Sabine, my virtually perfect daughter Amanda, and Tucker the Weird Dawg. Writing books is easier than writing blog posts. Selling blog posts is easier than selling books. That's unnerving, is what that is. So I write several blogs and have not yet sold any books. ;o)

There are a million ways to be lonely in life, even in a crowd, and significantly fewer ways to be socially fulfilled. I could be a poster child for whatever disease that is. A lot of that is situational; people get trapped into lonely situations...

In a way, all of us are being conditioned to spend more and more time on line, increasingly using social media sites. This conditioning, whether on purpose or not, is preparing us for the uber-connected future computing paradigm.

I think a lot of us love Plurk because it is a medium for light banter and fun. There is sure a lot of that that goes on, in thread after thread. On subjects as diverse as Oreos and Karma, we have fun with (and make fun of) almost everything. I have not s

It has been interesting to watch the reactions people have had while Plurk has been going through a few problems recently. You can tell a lot about people by the way they react to the problems of other people, and what you find out is not always pleasant.

With advances in hardware, software, and medical technology working hand in hand, how long can it be before our computers are invisible?

We have all talked about the differences between Plurk and other social sites, because it is fun to do so. We have talked about design issues, the GUI, the threads, the conversational mores, and the people that we know and love on Plurk. All of that is gr

The future computing paradigm that we envision is going to require immense infrastructure investments. These investments are already being made, proof that the revolution is coming.
