In 2010 we hope to see the first OLED TVs - which are thin, efficient and with a great picture quality. However LCD/PDP TVs will also advance by then... so what tech will be used in next-gen TVs?

OLEDs are a 'cold' flat light source - they emit no heat - and thus are safe to touch. This means that it's possible to use them as a touch-light-controller.

A Spintronic battery could produce spin imbalances at its two electrodes, and the chip could use that imbalance, instead of an ordinary electric current.

Rohm has shown a shadowless OLED lamp - with a complex array of OLED panels, if you put an object beneath the lamp it will have no shadow.

Japanese researchers have proved it is possible to manipulate magnetic domains in a semiconductor without using magnets. They simply use an electric field, generated by applying voltage to a nearby electrode, to shift magnetic domains.
