  1. Fuck this guy. This totally pisses me off and breaks my heart. First of all, this dude needs to face full punishment for this kind of cruelty. Second of all, this kind of behavior is not representative of the US military as a whole - but you can be guaranteed that some people will twist it to look that way.

  7. I made myself watch it, but I'm crying now. I want to take him and do the same to him. The sad thing is, there will likely be no repercussions. He's abusing an animal in a foreign country. I doubt there are laws in place to stop that. But if there's such a thing as karma, he'll die a miserable and grisly death. I have to go cuddle with my dogs now.

    hey, at least its not a human baby. the US Military have been doing much, much worse!

    i think this shows just how war and killing of humans and seeing their own friends getting blown up desensitizes impressionable teenagers to the point where this is just nothing. that's the message i get. a call for help.

    Dude, that is not the point. As a member of the marines, the army, the air force, or the navy, you are representing not only your military but your country. People abroad will see that video and it is a poor representation of the United States.

    As much as I am against war, it's really oversimplifying the matter to say that it's all the military's fault. An individual's psychoses are due to a complex interaction between biological (genetic) and environmental factors.

    Don't judge the US military by this one asshole's actions, I have a lot of friends who are in the service who are good, honest, caring people, its just sad we hear more about the assholes out there rather than the good ones.

    So rumors are going around on youtube and digg that the video is fake. People are saying this in the sense of that the puppy was already dead and they added in the yelping after the puppy is thrown. Now this may be true but it doesn't make sense that they tied it's paws to together. But still whether or not the puppy is alive or dead this is not humane and is teaching people in general that abusing animals is ok.

    Anyways I'm glad to hear that this is being investigated and hopefully this soldier will be punished.

    There seems to be some people who are believing the video to be a fake. Either way, even if it was faked, this is not the kind of behavior you'd expect from a Marine who is representing YOU out there.

  44. I saw this video last night and haven't stopped thinking of it since. It's so deeply disturbing and utterly wrenches my gut. Like Honest Ape, I wish I could unwatch it. I'd love to see this guy meet the same fate he doled out if this was definitely a real dog.

    From off screen, someone says “That’s mean. That’s mean...” and then uses the Monroe man’s last name.

    A profile for a man with that name on Bebo.com, a social networking site, said he was a Marine serving in Iraq, but was expecting to be transferred to Hawaii. The site was taken down Monday afternoon.

    A man with the same name was a junior at Monroe High School in 2003 and graduated from the Monroe School District’s Leaders In Learning alternative high school program in June of 2004, according to district records.

    A woman at the home listed for the Marine declined to talk.

    “Could you just leave? We already know why you’re here,” the woman said. “Just go. There’s nothing to say.”

  46. I love animals, but cant really understand why there are 45 comments on this story. Is it just somthing we can all get behind? i Read all the comments before I watched the video, and if the video is real then the soldier needs some serious help. But Im a little numb after reading the article about the man severing a toddlers head in a supermarket in Saudi Arabia over a dispute with the childs mom. Im not trying to be controversial or judgemental of those angry with what looks like a supreamly cruel act. The reaction just seems disproportionate to the human tragedies that occur every day in the news. I never see this kind of venom when one country or the another bomb a village and women and children die. Just an observation. I realize that all the above comments were made by people with very large hearts. Mines just a little shriveled from the fucked up world we live in.

    Dude, I totally understand where you're coming from. There's really no way to categorize or prioritize one tragedy over another. Like you, I was also horrified by that news from Saudi Arabia. I'm also aware that countless people have died in Iraq and other war zones.

    Yet, the impact of this video to me is very strong. It's symbolic: the puppy is innoncence, and had no means by which it could defend itself, or run away. To me, animal cruelty is right up there with human cruelty. There's no need for such mindless abuse to any living creature on this planet.

    I soak up all these things. It makes me seethe with rage. I see what's going on in the world and it just makes me angrier and angrier as days go by. So I'm with you, and I can see where you're coming from completely.

    i agree with you that this is messed up and reflects bad on the US and the Marines and i'm proud of you guys for standing up to this, and thereby making news yourselves.

  57. I watched (and subequently re-watched) the video, trying to tell if it is actually real or not. I still can't tell, since the pup in question doesn't move during the whole thing... but the noise is there (could have been added later).

    The real issue i have with this is the fact that the guy did it at all. Real or not, he and everyone else needs to be punished for this.
