   @TunisianGuy Even if it was just for fun, it was touching on a sensitive issue and she HAD to know that the trolls would pounce on the story. That kind of naivety is pretty unbelievable.

   The top diggers all take their 'job' and 'accomplishments' on digg way too seriously.... navigating through the submission form then shout spamming your friends isn't the achievement they've convinced themselves it is.

   That's exactly it, that's not the kind of thing that you do as a public joke. And to say it was is just covering your ass IMO.

   I don't care that it's Digg or any other site, it's the point of the matter. If it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone. If Andy were to leave, then who's the next in line? To stand back and not do a thing about it is to allow it to happen to us all. I am so pissed. And pissed at Digg to allow it to happen. It's outright abuse.

   um, i was never as "elite" as some of the more "elite" diggers, but it never crossed my mind to make a buck on social media. i can honestly say that i spent far too much time on digg "for the love of it" and "to share good stories with people".

   i took the time to introduce dozens of people to digg, (and youtube and wikipedia and ning) simply because i thought it was something worth sharing. even though i never made a penny, i can say that i got far more than i gave, in a number of ways, such as learning about technology i was clueless about, learning about social media and how people interact, not to mention the news and opinions i may have not noticed elsewhere.
